Title: Traitors In The Mist Disclaimer: Everything belongs to Laurell K. Hamilton, Jim Butcher, J.K. Rowling, and the Berkley Publishing Company. Nothing belongs to me; this is just a parody for your enjoyment. Rating: Violence and Bad Words. The plane had arrived at a small airport outside of St. Louis around one a.m. Richard and I stepped off the small jet to a quite atmosphere. Jamil followed behind us, and then left to get the van we had called to rent about an hour before. We helped the pilot remove our things and were finished as Jamil pulled up with our ride to The Lunatic Cafe. I pulled out my cell phone and dialed Maggie's lab number. She must of been near, cause she picked up on the first ring. "Hello," she answered. "Hey Maggie, it's me Alexandra. I just called to let you know, we have landed and are on our way to The Lunatic Cafe. I'll let you know more when we get there on the situation," I replied. "Oh Hi Alexandra and Ok just be careful," she stated. "Ok I will," I said and we hung up. Richard glances over at me and said, "That was a quick conversation." "Yeah, she had company," I replied. "Oh, well that explains it," He said with a smirk. I just rolled my eyes and sat back to join the ride. We got to University City and The Lunatic Cafe in an hour's time. Richard and I walked hand in hand toward our place of business with Jamil trailing us. As we entered, the place got quite. You could have heard a pin drop as we moved toward the back of the cafe where the offices were held. Pack members began to come forward talking all at once. Some of the wolves were highly upset and started to cry, pleading for Richard and I not to hurt them. We just looked at each other and headed for the office, with a group of seven wolves behind us. Once inside Richard and I listened to each and every one of them. They laid out Paris's plan for us, stating she's been bragging about it since we left. Once they all testified, we let them go and Richard got on the phone to Sylvia. He got her answering machine and told her to call him back. I sat down in a chair in front of the desk, while Richard began going over the books. I watched him work and a disgusted look feel over my face. Richard caught it and asked, "You ok babe?" I looked over at him and replied, "Nope. I'm sitting here wondering when this is all over, will we finally have normal lives." His eyebrows shot up, smiled and said, "I doubt it Alex. Things have a tendency to get screwed up one way or another." I just shook my head before asking, "So are we going to keep the new guys." He looked up from the books, smiled and said, "Don't worry Alex. Let?s deal with one problem at a time. And to answer your question, yes we are. They are what we need in the pack, especially to keep troublemakers in line. As for Paris and her little groupies, if we find them guilty then Anita can have them to use as target practice." I glanced at him in shock before rising from my chair and moving to the other side of the desk. I sat down on his lap and asked, "So how are we going to tell Anita and Micah. They are going to know why the change in heart, where that hussy is concerned." He pulled me closer; wrapping his arms around me and shrugs. "After Sylvia calls me back. I'll call all the alphas together, telling them we are back in town, that there's a situation that needs tending to and to meet us at the lupanar at three this morning. After that we tell Anita and Micah the truth, which reminds me you need to get a hold of Maggie and see if she has seen Noah. Only Noah will know where Micah and Anita are hiding. Besides did you see the shocked looks on the were's faces when we walked into the cafe. They were shocked to see us back early, which tells me something is going on that they don't want us to know about," he stated. I tilted my head and glanced up at him. ?Yes they were and you know somethings up, if Melinda ran out the cafe like a bat out of hell and other's came forward to rat on Paris to save their own skin," I commented. Richard rubs his chin over my hair, before he pushed me off his lap, standing with me. "You better go and call Maggie. I've got to see if I can get a hold of everyone from here," he said. I nibbled down his chin and neck, before replying, "Ok, I'll be in the bathroom." Then left him to his phone calls while I went to make mine. I went to the ladies bathroom. Locking the door behind me, making sure I wasn't going to be interrupted on my private phone. Really how many people do you know use a mirror as a way to communicate? I tapped the mirror three times and spoke, "Maggie's lab please." And before long her lab came into view. Maggie was leaning over a person with a dagger in her hand. When she moved out of the way, I saw that it was Conor lying there in a very bad state. I cleared my throat and Maggie spun around hiding the dagger behind her back. "Hi Alex. How?s it going? Luna and Shang-Da apparently took off for a more private reunion when we weren't looking. Noah is here though," she said with a smile. "I'm doing fine. And I'm glad Noah is here. I need to talk to him about Anita and Micah, but it seems I've accidentally dropped in on something else," I stated with my arms crossed. Her smile got bigger and she replied, "What ever do you mean?" I just shook my head and answered. "I saw the dagger, you have behind you back Maggie. I don't know what's going on, but I really need to talk to Noah." She placed the dagger in a drawer, then slowly walked toward me while watching Conor. She pulled me aside and said, "He's not doing to well. He's seriously drunk and is saying things not realizing what he's saying." I shook my head and looked over at my elfin buddy. Conor was rambling on about Paris and how much he thought she loved him. He didn't have any clue that she was playing him for a fool. What gets me is she's the one, who got him into trouble with Jean-Claude in the first place. Stupid dog, don't know when to keep her nose out of things that aren't her business. "Ok Maggie, I'm coming over," I said hopping onto the sink, putting my arms through the portal to grab a hold of Maggie's mirror frame. I pulled myself out to drop onto the floor on both feet. Looks around trying to find Noah, then glance at Maggie and stated, "I thought you said Noah was here?" "I am here," came a voice from behind that scared me to know end. I turned around to find Noah standing in front of the mirror. "Oh hey, there you are. I need to talk to you if you don't mind," I asked. He smiled grabbed a chair, then pulled Maggie onto his lap saying as he did so, "Sure go ahead. What?s wrong?" A moan came from my right and I turned to see Conor swaggering out the door, with a bottle of tequila in his hands. Noah, Maggie, and myself looked after him making sure he didn't fall right there in the middle of the hallway. Once he had made it safely to where ever it was he was going. I turned back to Noah. "Do you know where Anita and Micah are hiding out? We have a situation with the pack and we need our Bolverk there," I stated. Noah glanced at me with a silent look for a few minutes then said, "Did you try the house. Anita and Micah were going to spend a quite evening together." "No I haven't called the house. I thought it would be easier if you told me where they were exactly, so I won't be given the runaround," I answered. Noah became lost in thought before replying, "I did think they said something about a movie. Merle's with them, so he should have the cell phone. I can call him if you want, that's if he remembered to turn the damn thing on this time." "That will be great, cause we have called a meeting for this morning. It seems we have a traitor in our midst and need to put her out of our misery once and for all," I said. Noah picked up the phone and started dialing, while Maggie looked on. "So whose the traitor," asked Noah. "Oh Paris and a group of six other wolves that were becoming power hungry. Sylvia has got the evidence to convict them. We are going to have the trial tonight, that?s why we need Anita there as soon as possible," I commented. Noah glared at me, while waiting for someone to pick up the other line. "I'm glad to hear that the situation is finally being taken care of, before someone else gets hurt," he said. "Well listen I've got to head back, Richard and I will be leaving the cafe soon. The trial is scheduled for three o'clock this morning. I know it's short notice, but we want to nip this in the butt before it gets to out of hand," I stated before heading back toward the portal. Noah glanced over his shoulder at me and said, "Sounds like a plan. So I assume you want both Anita and Micah there?" I had just jumped the portal, when his last question came threw like a lion's roar. Sometimes portal jumping can be hazardous to your health. I turned around and answered, "Yes. This involves the pard as well. Seems Paris's number one goal after taking over the throne, is taking out the cats. From what I'm hearing she's becoming more and more like Raina. That's why a lot of the pack members who were eating at the cafe at the time, were surprised to see us back in town so early. They didn't think twice about ratting them out, to save their own hides." Noah nods as his eyes start to change into his beast. They were flashing a golden yellow light as he replied, "I thought this was just about Luna and Shang-Da dating. Since it goes far beyond that, then I know Micah is going to want to be involved. This is going to piss them off big time." I stood there and wondered if I should tell him the rest of it or not and decided he will need to know, if he's going to convince Anita to come out to the lupanar tonight. "Yeah it's more than that though Noah. Paris brought Jean-Claude into this. She's going around everyone's backs and telling him rumors about Luna and Conor. Now he feels threatened by Conor's presence here in St. Louis. I don't know why that is, cause I don't know what all she told Jean-Claude. However I do know it's not good, especially if he believes everything she's telling him. He should know not to trust someone like her. I mean look what happened when he tried to trust Raina," I stated. Noah shakes his head in disgust and said, "I knew something was wrong with that blood sucker, when I found out he bit Maggie. What was he thinking?" "Well now you know why it's so important for Anita and Micah to be there," I stated. I looked at my watch and said, "Well got to go, it's about that time." Then remember I forgot to give him my cell phone number. "Hey let me give you my cell phone number just in case you get a hold of them," I replied. Maggie grabbed a pad and pencil and I gave her my number. She scribbled it down and we said our goodbyes. Then I closed up the portal and went to find Richard in the office, who was just hanging up the phone. He looks up at me and asked. "Hey babe. Your ready?" "Ready as I ever will be," I stated and wrapped myself around him as he came around to the front of the desk. "Good, cause tonight we aren't going to be playing any games. I'm sick and tired of everyone trying to take over the pack, without going through me first. Tonight they will know who?s the boss," he stated before hugging me to him. I hugged him back and said, "Do you know just how much I love you?" He leaned down and kissed me before answering, "Yes I know how much you love me and I love you too," He grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door and continued, "We had better before I get something else started that we won?t be able to finish." I smiled wickedly at him and asked, "Is that a promise you will keep for later?" He smiled back at me with a twinkle in his eye and said, "Oh it is babe. It is." We left the cafe and headed back toward the van. Jamil was waiting for us in the driver's seat as we climbed into it. He started the engine and we pulled off at around two-fifteen. We had forty-five minutes to get to the lupanar and pray to god we don't get pulled over. As soon as we got out of the city and onto back roads, Jamil speeded all the way. We were fifteen minutes from the lupanar when my cell phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello." "Hey Alexandra it's me Noah. Anita and Micah are on their way, they said not to start with out them," He said. "Oh ok, we will try hold off as long as we can, but if she's not there soon, we will have no choice," I answered. "Well Anita said that Paris's ass was hers when she got there, so don't get too far ahead of her," stated an angry Noah. "Ok we'll try not to," I said. "Ok, well got to go for now. Talk to ya later," he replied. "Ok bye," I said and hung up the phone. Richard glanced over at me and smiled. I had to smile back, cause he was just so cute. Ok enough of the cutesiness and down to business. Coming through Dead Puppies Walking. Soon we had pulled into the farm, where the lupanar was housed. We had to park close to the road, cause all the other cars had taken up the yard spots. What gets me is they don't know how to park; they just pulled up in there any old way. It caused me to shake my head and snort. Richard grabbed my hand once outside the van and we both started running for the lupanar. We ran around the edge to the backside of the circle, to where purple drapes had been thrown to make it look more royal. Sylvia, Gwen, and Sylvia's two enforcers were all waiting for us. Once in sight we greeted each other properly before getting down to business. Shang-Da was nowhere to be seen, so we figured he was still making up with Luna. Which was good, cause Richard and I could see first hand just how good Sylvia's enforcers really were. We found out their names were Darwan and Bradly. Turns out they were lovers and if no one already knew, they were both guys. Surprise, Surprise, especially when Richard held it together after finding out this piece of information. He however had a disgusted look on his face, which made him so cute. I wrapped my arms around him and he looked down at me. He smiled, leaned down and kissed me, which caused Sylvia and Gwen to gag, and the two males to start whistling. Richard glanced between the six of us and said, "Shall we get this show on the road or wait until Anita shows up?" Moving into Richard, I began to rub my cheek up and down his chest. "I would say we do it now, but Noah said that Anita didn't want us to start until she got here. Said something about wanting Paris for herself." Sylvia snorted and said, "I say we start now, then fill Anita in, when she gets here." I smiled over at Sylvia and replied, "I like Sylvia's idea better." She smiled back and answered, "Why thank you. I thought so too." Richard rolled his eyes, then nods his head, "Then lets begin tonight?s festivities," he said, then looked between Jamil and Sylvia, "All right take your places," then we start moving forward through the purple curtains. As we stepped up to the throne, the pack stood still. They dropped their voices down to a whispering volume as Richard sat down on the throne, with me on his lap. A group of alphas had brought forth the traitors as Sylvia took her place on Richard's left, with Gwen and her enforcers flanking her. Jamil came in on Richard's right. Richard motioned for the pack to be quite and as they did so, he motioned for the alphas to bring the guilty party in front of the throne. "I know some of you didn't expect to see my lupa back and I back this early. To tell you the truth, we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for some disturbing news that has come my way. I know Sylvia can handle things on her own, except for when there is corruption among us, then a few rogue weres. Tonight Paris, Cicily, Angel, Terea, Simon, Adam, and Larry. You've all been brought before your lupa and I on charges of treason. If the evidence that has been provided by my second in command finds you guilty, then my Bolverk will put you to death. So think before you speak, when I ask you this question. How do you plead?" He stated. Paris steps forward, then goes to her knees in a submissive form. "We plead not guilty my king, for the evidence brought before you is of false state." Richard was about to answer her, when Anita, Micah, and Merle come running into the clearing. Anita takes her place as Bolverk of the pack, with Micah and Merle at her back. She looks at us, and then at Paris and her cohorts before asking, "You started the party without me. How rude." Richard nods her way and replied, "Sorry Anita. I thought it would be best to start, then fill you in when you got here." He then glanced back at Paris and asked, "Even if the proof that is given to me is from my second command." Paris just looked up at Richard with pleading eyes and he just pushed her away with the toe of his boot. The alphas that were holding her, pulled her away as Richard glanced over at Anita. "Thank you for coming Anita. And as always it's good to see you. Micah it's a pleasure to have you here as well, since this deals with both of us," Richard stated. Micah nodded his head and replied," Good evening Richard, the feeling is mutual. Noah has told me about some of what's going on. I hope you don't mind sharing the proof. I for one would love to see what Paris has been doing behind all our backs." With this he glared at the pup in question. Anita looked over at Richard with a slight smile and answered, "It's ok Richard. I'm just glad you are finally willing to do something about the dissension in the pack." Richard glances over at Anita with sadness in his eyes before replying, "I'm sorry for not listening to you. I was hoping she would learn to grow out of it, but instead conspire against me behind my back. She tried to have my second in command killed, then take over the pack knowing I wasn't here to stop her." He then pushes me off his lap and heads down the stairs, coming up short in front of Paris. "And I do have the proof, that Paris along with six other wolves who I took in and trusted. Not only have been causing trouble between our groups, being treacherous, but also has brought Jean-Claude into all this, when he has enough problems of his own. They are telling him lies about Conor, the half elf. God only knows what they've told him about Conor. But that's not the issue here. The issue here is treason and Anita I think I will let you handle it from here," he said, glaring all the while at Paris. Anita smiled at the apology, that was coming way past due and said, "I'm sorry it took this for you to see." She also took that as her cue and came forth to confront Paris. "My, you have been a busy girl, haven't you?" Micah gave a shocked gasped, then replied, "I've heard from a few sources that Jean-Claude was acting strange lately, but I didn't suspect that." Paris was scared at that moment and went to her knees in front of Richard. "Please, my king. They are all lies. I had nothing to do with it. It was all them," she said, while pointing toward the other six wolves. Cicily pulls away from her guard with a firm pull and confronts Paris. "You traitorous bitch. How dare you say you had nothing to do with it, when it was all your idea," she hissed, then decks Paris. I jumped up and went to separate the two women, with Sylvia not far behind. I grabbed for Paris, when Lionel was kicked in the groin and Sylvia helped Lomax to pull Cicily away from the both of us. Anita stepped forward to where I was holding Paris and got into her face. "It looks like we got the goods on you. If I find the proof against you, you will be executed with no questions asked," Anita said coldly. Gwen comes forward and hands the information to Anita. Sylvia hands her had pictures, videotape and a recording from their conferences at an S and M club across the river. I wouldn't be surprise if it was Narcissus's club. Paris in the mean time was going crazy, trying to pull away from me, screaming her bloody head off. "I tell you I had nothing to do with it," she yelled. Gwen sticks her nose into Paris's face and comments, "If you?re not involved then why are you in the discussion of taking over the pack and dominating the pard. Your history Paris, so take your punishment like a woman." She turns around and walks back toward Sylvia's side. Anita flips through the photos and listens to the recordings, while Micah looks over her shoulder at them as well. When it was time to look at the surveillance tapes, I had one of Sylvia's enforcer's to bring the disk copy and my laptop. He looked at me strangely but did as I instructed him. Anita knew me well enough, that she didn't have any problems with working my laptop. You could hear voices talking about the dominating the pack and pard as the disk began to play. About a half hour later as I try my best to hold a struggling Paris, the disk came to an end. Anita hands the computer back to Darwan who takes it and runs. Anita had that time pulled out her gun and was on the verge of starting the execution process. Paris got free but I grabbed her by the back of her shirt, and then tripped her to the ground landing on top of her. Paris decided at that moment to shift under me, coming back with one clawed arm and knocking me off of her. She lunged for me as a gun went off. She had dug her claws into my chest as I brought my knees up to kick her away with my feet. Anita had shot her and was making another aim for her, but I was in the way. I hit the ground as a bullet whizzed by catching Paris square in the chest, while another one scattered her brain's all over the lupanar. Richard ran over to me as I tried to stand on my own to feet. I had lost a lot of blood from the chest wound. He forced me to shift, while Anita carried out the sentence to the rest of the group of traitors. Once shifted the wound healed and I lay on the ground exhausted. Richard was smoothing out my fur and whispering how much he loved me into my ears. I raised my head and licked him across the face. It took me awhile before I had the strength to shift back. Once it was done, Richard had picked me up and taken me back to the throne. He sat down and pulled me into his lap, holding me close. He ordered a few pack members to clean up the mess and turned to Anita. "Thank you again Anita," he said. Anita glanced up at Richard covered in some goo and said, "Your welcome and if that?s all the business you needed me for. I?m going home now. I need a bath." Richard smiled and replied, "That is all." Anita, Micah, and Merle said their good-byes and left the lupanar. Richard was cradling me, while watching the others clean up the seven bodies that lay on the ground. Soon the sun came up and he picked me up, carrying me to the van. One by one the cars left the farm and headed back home. Once we arrived at Richard's house, he put me straight into the tub. Giving me a bath, then fed me to replace the blood I had lost. An hour had past, when he pulled me out, dried me with some clean towels, and tucked me into bed, where I feel asleep for the rest of the day. |
