| Blood Wars: Pt.3 - Night Terror
I listened to the wind and the sound coming from it freaked me out. It was screaming in pain as if someone was dying and the rain poured down in a blood red color. My skin began to get sticky and clammy as I glanced around trying to figure out where that awful screeching was coming from. A strange cry came from above and I swiftly looked up to see a pair of golden eyes staring back at me. Then the face of a dragon came out of the rain to snarl at me. He was pure white, almost the color of snow and ice. Smoke was coming out of his nose and I tried to step back away from the creature, but I couldn't find the strenght to do so. I was about to move when it pulled its body out of the mist and grabbed me by the shoulders pulling me off the ground. Claws dug deep into my upper arms and I screamed against the wind as the creature flew through the air. The smell of blood came to my nose as the hot sticky fluid begun running down my arms. I squarmed trying to losin its grip, gritting my teeth at the same time from the pain. The dragon's claws went deeper into my shoulders, causing me to cry out in agony. The sound echoed through the night air and when it came back to me, it was loud enough to cause my ears to pound. I felt something move through me like it was clawing its way out from the inside out through my skin. Next thing I knew, orangish yellow light erupted out of me in all directions. The heat from the light was like being to close to the sun or in the flaming pits of hades. The light was so bright, it blinded me. I wasn't the only one that was affected by it. The dragon screamed as it crashed around him, burning and blinding him at the same time. I'm not sure, but it was as if I could feel his pain to. It light burned his scales to smolders of ash, while it damaged the nerves in his retna, plunging it into darkness. It was in so much pain that it released me from it's grip without thinking of what it was doing. I fell through the air at a breathtaking speed. I landed on my left side hard, causing me to yell out in pain as my already injured shoulder took most of the impact. I had hit something that made a cracking sound and I wasn't for sure if it was me or whatever I landed on. My vision had cleared where the light didn't bother me so much. Did I forget to mention that I was still glowing that freakesh color. I sat up slowly, surprised that the fall hadn't killed me. I looked around to check my surroundings. My face went white with shock, because beneath me lay three bodies: two males and a female. The victims were naked with deep wounds in their necks, while the rest of their bodies were covered in deep cuts and bruises. Using my left side for support, I dragged myself off the corpses. After moving away from the horror in front of my I checked for any broken bones on my right side. The wounds on both of my shoulders were deep cuts and the rain washed the blood down my arms, making it look worse. Moving each body part around caused me to wince in pain. I found out that my right shoulder was dislocated, while the rest of me was severly bruised and sore. I slowly pulled myself to my feet while looking around to find nothing but chunky sand below me. It had stopped raining or thought it had until I glanced around me. The storm was no longer touching the beach, or this part anyway. It went around me like a whirl pool, while I was trapped on the inside of it. It was like being inside a glass tube underwater, looking up at the sea life. I listened to the wind trying to find which way the ocean was coming in at through the storm. From the way the wind was screaming with rage and the splach of waves aglong the beach it was coming in from the south-east. Getting to my feet, I decided to head west, through the spiral storm. I didn't take the time to figure out what happened if I entered that swirling vortex and I didn't care. I wanted out of here and far away from the corpses as possible. As I begin to walk forward, the storm parted like Moses parted the red sea. There's an old saying that every beach has a part that is always deserted and no one dares to go to. Sometimes there are cliffs with caves on them, where strange beings lived. My family called these places, "No Man's Land". Alot of people who don't believe in those myths, take a trip to those places to find out the truth. But the scary part is, that they sometimes never come back and if they do, they're mentally unstabble and need to be put in a mental institution. At the look of things, I would say that I've found the no man's land area of Ocean City. As I continue to walk a cave came into few. It didn't look like much, until you got closer to it. The opening was big enough for a dump trunk to pass through it along with several groups of people. As I moved through the tunnel, a mist began to form around me, giving me the feeling that some powerful force resides in the middle of it. The cavern was large, the size of a small village. It had stone steps going up the right side to spiral around to another entrace, that sat on an over hang, high above the cavern floor. The hairs stood up on the back of my arms and neck, while trying to find an escape route. Then I saw a figure merge from the shadows to my left, parting the mist as it moved. I began to panic, which caused my shileds to come up, while the light around me began humming loudley around me. I tried to walk slowly backwards out of the cave and was stopped by a wall of ice cold water. It poured over me, nearly drowning me from it's force and knocking the breath right out of me. Moving back out of the waterfall and further into the cavern, I tried to stay far away from the robed figure as possible. He kept coming closer to me, but not too close. My inner light got brighter as he came nearer, causing him to keep to the edges of my aura that was forming around me. I also noticed that he kept his head tilted forward a little bit as if the light hurt his eyes. He apparently had some kind of weakness to sun light or he would have attacked me by now. He was nearly 6'3 and wearing long black robes which hid most of him from view. All you could see was snow-white hair, that poured out from under a hood to reach down past his ribs. While his mouth were a light pink and turned up like the chessire cat from Alice in The Wonderland. It's enough to give anyone nightmares. Last but not least, his hands that was made up of white gold skin. He had stopped a few inches away from me, watching me like a hawk would a mouse. Standing there I did all I could do not to bolt, trying not to pass out from fright. He lifted his arms and pulled back the hood, to reveal his face. Hi face was long and oval, with barely any check bones. It was that white gold color, but looked more like ghostly white. His eyes are what freaked me out the most. They looked like the eyes of the dragon that attacked me. I tried to scream, but it only caught in my throat. All he did was just stand there, making no move staring at me, but really not seeing me. It felt like he was searching for something, the he smiled and that's when I saw them. His upper canines were long and sharp like that of a snakes. My attention was pulled off him by loud cries coming from the upper cavern. They echoed through the air, causing my ears to pound once again by the vibrations of those painful sobs. The man's expression turned from nothing to a hate, then he spoke for the first time since he appeared. His voice came out in a hiss, "You've blinded my pet for life my dear. Now you'll have to pay for it." Trying to stay calm I asked, "Who are you?" He shrugged and smiled sideways at me. "I'm your worst nightmares come to life," he replied. Oh great a comedian. The Chessire Cat would have been so proud, if he was real. However the figure before me was real, and he was a lot scarier than The Joker. He walked around poking at the edge of my shields with a long finger. The touch caused the fire to become hotter and it sizzled like an egg would in a skillet. He turned around with his back towards me, walking toward a pedastool that appeared out of nowhere and upon that stand layed a huge brown book. He opened the book and began flipping throught it's pages. I used this destraction to move slowly toward the cave entrance. Without looking up, he turned his hand in a circular motion and I hit electricity that shot me forward to my hands and knees. "Going so soon my dear. You wouldn't want to miss the festivities now would you," he said in that hissy voice of his that was mixed with amusement this time. I was trapped with no way out and my so called new power couldn't do more than protect me from the things that go bump in the night. He must of found what he was looking for because he stopped flipping and started reading, while his finger followed along the page. The book disappeared again along with the stand and the man came back over to me. He smiled again like he caught something worth his while this time. Running his hand now along my shields, I would feel that touch and shivered. It felt like ice water being poured over my body. "You have great power flowing through you and it has yet to be explored. I will enjoy feeding from you," he finally said with a satisfaction. I glared at him wondering what the hell he was talking about. I didn't know what else to do in this situation. Being trapped like a rat didn't help matters any, so I kept talking trying to build up my courage at the same time. "I'm not sure what your talking about, but I can tell you one thing. You can't come near me, while this light is around me. It seems to me, that you have some weakness to sun light," I stated calmly. He laughed then and the hair on my arms stood up. That laugh was creepy and it caused the vision of Chessire the Cat to appear before my eyes. I have now enter the twilight zone. His voice drawed me back to him as he said, "You have courage in the face of danger, but I can smell your fear as well. A deer is the same way, when it knows it's being stocked by a predator. Your also to cocky for your own good. That power just came out recently, so you have no time to learn how to use it properly. And with everything in life there's a back door or a way around it as you might say." With that he came closer to me, chanting something in a language I didn't understand. I felt the power rose and felt my own faulter. My big mouth just got me into more trouble than I could handle. Fear wanted me to run, while logic whispered, "Don't it will only make your death quicker." I did the stupidest thing and made for the door. The spell hit me full force in the back, knocking me forward and destroying any plans of getting out the cave. It had binded my power to keep it from resurfacing again. Before I could pull myself back to my feet, a hand grabbed me by the hair with neck breaking speed. He yanked my head backwards with a painful jerk, causing me to cry out in pain. He forced me to look him in the eyes, while they shifted from gold to pure white. The last thing I saw before the world went black was him leaning over me with his fangs preparing to strike. |
