| Ever notice how there sure are a lot of depressed popular kids? Well, if you haven't figured it out yet, it's not that they're anymore depressed than the other demographics; we just care more about them subconsciously. Don't believe me? You don't have to, it's an open forum biotch. So pfft. Here's why I think that it's true. Hot guys and girls just simply are more interesting. Almost everything about being a teenager is easier if you're attractive. People listen to your jokes more and find them funnier, peers have more respect for you, getting a job is less of a hassle, and dating becomes much less complicated. I could do a hundred things, and if a better looking version of myself did the same a hundred things the same way, I guarantee the reaction would be better. I call it "The Cute Effect". Nobody's exempt here. It's not even something to feel bad about. I do it myself. For example, a friend of mine felt he was being "stalked" by a girl from out of state. She sent him a pic of herself, and he suddenly made a new friend out of the stalker. It was crazy, but it made sense. If a losery person puts up an away message saying "my life sucks", we tell them to get a grip and change their ways. but if a hottie puts up the same away message, we'll be more inclined to offer a helping hand. It's just human nature I guess. But don't worry, my fellow geeks, losers, dweebs, outcasts, and wallflowers. We have a distinct advantage in life. We've learned how little other's opinions really mean to us. We've lost our dependencies on attention. We can survive without somebody lending a hand. We've learned that all opinions are valid, not just the pretty people's views on the world. The tragedy here is the wonderful people totally ruined by their beauty. But hey, it's a dog-eat-dog world out there. I'm done. |
