HISTORY     -       Freewheelers of Clondalkin
The following is a look back at some important dates in Freewheelers History.
I was 10 when the club was formed so forgive the huge gaps that may appear here.
In saying that, if there any past players or past commitee members out there who would like me to include anything else (so that the history is not lost forever) then please email the following address with the details.
[email protected] - Any old pictures etc. would be especially welcome.
1988 - Freewheelers FC was founded by Eugene Fagan and Enda McGrath
        - In the first season, Freewheelers beat Templeogue to win the Healy Cup at Dalymount Park.
1989 - A second team was formed. Freewheelers 'B' win the league in their first attempt.
1990 - A third team was established.
1990 -The first team now competes in the Leinster Senior League.
1991 -The club moved from their first pitch in Corkagh Park to the pitch (closest to the Swimming pool) in the Clondalkin
Community Centre. (The club would remain at this pitch until the Community Centre Renovations in 2006)
1992 -1997 - Articles about club activities 'on and off' the pitch appear monthly in the local newspaper 'Clondalkin People'
        - The reports were written by Author Robbie Dillon, late of Floraville Drive, former Freewheelers player, manager
          and commitee member.
1995 - Triaining for a period takes place on Wednesday nights at Clondalkin Rugby club. (meet @ 6.45 in Quinnsworth car park)
1996 - Third Team was dissolved.
2000 - 2nd Team won a cup. I can't remember the name of it now. (I went to watch the final). Ego was centre half and I
think I remember Graham scoring! (What was the name of the cup lads!? I know there's a picture around
somewhere aswell!) - You were wearing your blue jumpers! ....      (eh.. jerseys!)
2001 - The club consolidates by fielding only 1 team in the 2001/2002 season. LSL Division 3 Sunday.
2006 - The club moves to Saturday football. LSL Division 2 Saturday
