| Frewheelers moved to the top of the LSL Saturday Division 2, following a 4-1 win in a spirited contest with Dunshaughlin Youths in the Community centre on Saturday last. First half goals from Ronan O'Connor, Alan Lannigan and Darren Hanbury gave the home side a 3-0 lead in what was a convincing first half performance. A number of excellent saves from the visiting goalkeeper before the break prevented Wheelers from achieving an even greater lead going into the interval. The visitors regrouped at half time and the second half proved a much more even affair. But for some solid defending from Ronan Scanlan and Graham Norman, Dunshaughlin could have found themselves right back in the match. A well worked goal following a Dan McGibney raid down the right, and eventually finished by O'Connor, his second of the game, put the result beyond doubt twenty minutes from time, though the Meath men did grab a deserved consolation goal before the end. |

| Manager Brian Gilmartin was cautious after the game despite his side securing the top spot for the first time this season: "Last season we found ourselves top of the league at christmas, after a great start, but players began to ease off at training and we found ourselves dropping points at crucial matches towards the end of the campaign. We all now need to work hard to build on this early momentum - it's vital for this team to stay fit and focused to ensure we can stay the course throughout the Winter and be in a position to challenge next Spring" | |||||||||||||
