Free-Trade bashers, go below to the "comment" link and post your silly Lou Dobbsian arguments against free trade, so they can be refuted here. All your anti-capitalist Marxist dribble will be gladly posted here and refuted for the rubbish that it is.

Now, here is your castor oil for today:

Only the uncompetitive are hurt by free trade, outsourcing, cheap labor, etc.

Someone who condemns outsourcing and hiring cheap labor needs to answer this question:

If it's OK for a company to lay off workers and replace them with machines (robots, computers), then why isn't it also OK for them to replace higher-paid workers with lower-paid workers?

What is wrong with the following basic rule of economics:

Anything that can be replaced by someone or something else that does the same function at lower cost should be replaced.

  ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

This is a question which Lou Dobbs and other immigrant-bashing protectionist petty nativists do not answer.

Let the demagogues who whine about cheap labor answer this basic question of economics.

You mention on your best policies page that immigrants should need to know English before entry into the US, among other prerequisites. I think it wise that the same treatment should be enforced upon natural born citizens of the US. Namely that we should be required to know Spanish, and that we should be able to pass any test required of immigrants. I believe, at this point in time, the majority of natural born US citizens would fail any test the top immigrant candidates would be able to pass.
