About

As if being a teenager wasn't challenging enough. Questoning your sexuality is often extremely confusing and can leave you feeling very alone. "I have so many questions, who can I ask? Is this normal? Am I the only one? What do I tell my parents? What are my friends going to think? Why me?"

S.A.Y. is a group for open-minded youth. It offers a safe place for queer and questioning teens to connect with one another, seek support, develop new friendships, express themselves, learn about the LGBT community and most importantly have fun.

Some issues we have discussed.... dating, relationships, coming out, education, homophobia, the future, family, drugs, alcohol, mental health issues, AIDS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a church group?
You don't need to belong to any religious group to take part. We are here to consider whatever concerns queer youth and their supporters.
How often do you meet?
We meet every Tuesday evening, year round.
I am a bit scared to go on my first meeting. Any suggestions?
Yes, give us a call or e-mail and we can arrange to have someone meet with you, so that you'll at least know someone.
Do you need to be attending school to attend?
No, our meetings are open to all youth.
Are there rules?
We operate on the principle of respect... for ourselves, others and the group. In practical terms... no drugs or alcohol. We want this to be safe place to explore who you are and who you are becoming. That means: who you see at group, and what is said at group, stays at group.
I have some ideas for the group. What should I do?
Bring them along and share them. We are always looking for ideas.
