Free To Be, MCC is a member church of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. UFMCC is an international denomination which was founded in 1969, by the Rev. Troy Perry. Rev. Perry had be forced to leave the church of his youth when they discovered that he was gay. A short time later, Rev. Perry met in his home with twelve others who wanted a safe place to share and grow in their faith. The denomination has grown from that humble beginning to a church which now exists in seventeen countries (each year more countries expressing interest in joining the UFMCC) and boosts over 40,000 members.
