Part I: General Information
Name: Jen, but I also go by Ilyria on the Seiryuu boards.
Email address: [email protected]
Part II: Character Information
Character Name: Xiuhcoatl which means fire serpent or weapon of destruction.
The first term relates to her because her sphere of influence deals with fire.
The second pertains to her because Xiu and her family are weapon smiths. Most
people call her "Xiu" for short.
Character Position: Xiu is Huehueteotl, the warrior of fire and smoke. She serves
as the weapons expert on the team.
Birthdate and Age: Xiu is nineteen years old and was born May 2nd. Her moon sign
is Virgo, her ascendant is Scorpio, and her sun sign is Taurus. This makes Xiu
a very determined and persistent individual, who appears to be a bit closed off
around strangers. She is a very responsible person, and she tackles any task
given to her with the utmost precision. Xiu is known to be a very competitive,
determined, and self-reliant person who won’t let anyone get in her way.
Likes:
Metal work - Xiu has grown a fine
appreciation for this art since she was a child. She enjoys making weapons from
metal and even watching her mother make jewelry from it.
Family – Yeah, I know, this seems too
obvious. But seriously, Xiu really likes her family. They are her closest
friends, the people she confides in, has fun with, etc. Xiu would have a very
difficult life without her family. She would have no one to connect her to the
world around her and no one to listen to all of her little problems. Xiu loves
her family, she truly does.
Tasks - Xiu likes being occupied
because it prevents her from becoming bored. She also likes feeling of
accomplishment she obtains after completing a job. People will always see Xiu
working or keeping busy; there is hardly ever a moment when she has nothing to
do.
Competition - Xiu takes pride in
everything she does. She is able to accept that she isn't the best at
everything, and she believes that there is always room for improvement.
Competing with others allows her to test her skills and it motivates her to
improve them.
Dislikes:
Anything that is unnecessary – If the
world were in the hands of Xiu she would make a rule that every single thing
would have to have a purpose. Xiu can’t stand anything that distracts her from
her current task, or anything important for that matter. She finds it
irritating when people try to strike up conversations with her while she is
metal smithing.
People who aren’t willing to work –
She dislikes lazy bums with a passion. Xiu doesn’t see the point in people
sitting around all day. She feels that they can do something better with their
time, or at least something to occupy themselves.
Boredom –Xiu is rarely bored because
she always occupies herself with something. She believes that there is always a
task to be done, or something useful to do to occupy one’s time. When Xiu is
bored she will drive herself crazy trying to think of something to do.
Hobbies:
Working - see 'tasks' above.
Cooking for her family - Xiu picked
up the art of cooking from her mother. She enjoys the satisfaction that she
receives from cooking and even the compliments that her family gives her. Xiu
finds cooking to be a stress reliever and an excuse to talk and hang out with
her family.
Swimming in the lake nearby - This
seems to be a ritual for Xiu and her brothers. Every few weeks they walk a few
miles out of their town to go visit the lake. No one else really knows about
the lake because it's well hidden by trees and other shrubbery. During this
time Xiu and her brothers talk about their problems or they horse around. Xiu's
brothers often enjoy teaming up on her and dunking her underwater.
Browsing at the market - When Xiu has
free time she usually opts to go to market and buy things for the family.
Occasionally one of her brothers will accompany her, but she almost always goes
alone. She also uses this time to see the products of the other metal workers.
After all, she likes knowing her competition.
Creating new weapons - Xiu and her
family need to keep up with the demand for new and more efficient weapons. From
time to time she will plan out new ideas and show them to her father. If her
father approves her ideas she will then make the weapon and it will be tested
for its efficiency. Finally, the weapon will either be approved or rejected
depending on how it tested. After all, faulty weapons would be dangerous
><;.
Testing out weapons – Before a weapon
can be sold it is required that it be tested. Most of the time Xiu’s brothers
test out the weapons, but sometimes she joins them. They practice on targets
with knives, bows and arrows, and the like.
Description:
Hair: Xiu’s hair is a mane of soft
waves which gracefully falls to her mid-back. Her hair is a very shiny black
with a maroon undertone. In the sun the maroon color is very visible, but at
night her hair appears pitch black. Most of the time Xiu pulls her hair into a
singular braid but there are always a few loose strands dangling in her face.
She usually secures her braid with a piece of red cloth or sometimes a piece of
golden jewelry. Most people never see Xiu with her hair worn fully down, but
when she does wear it down it is a brilliant sight to see. Her hair reflects
the sun beautifully and it contrasts her rather tomboyish figure (explained
below).
Eyes: Xiu’s eyes are round with
medium length lashes to accompany them. Her eyes are a deep golden amber color
which appears more golden in the sunlight. At times her eyes seem rather cold
and distant, as if she was staring at something far away. When Xiu is content
her eyes seem to widen and sparkle.
Face and skin: Xiu’s skin has a
natural golden tan from years of being out in the sun. When free of dirt her
skin appears to glow, but unfortunately she is usually covered in soot or dirt.
She works around the fire a lot, sometimes for more than half of the day. This
constant exposure causes her face and her body to obtain a fine layer of soot.
Xiu’s face is round with a full and healthy look. Her lips are average in size,
as is her nose. She has a few faint freckles around her nose and cheeks, but
they are only visible at a close range. Both of her ears were pierced at a young
age and she usually wears small golden hoops in them.
Clothing: Xiu often wears tighter
clothing while metal working because she doesn’t want it to catch on fire or
snag. Around the house or during her leisure time she opts to wear looser
fitting clothes. Xiu often wears simple cloth dresses with the occasional
decorative jewelry. She always secures her dresses with some sort of colorful
sash at her waist. During colder weather she wears a tzute, which can act as a
shawl or cape. A tzute is simply a rectangular piece of cloth that can be
decorated to the liking of the wearer. Sometimes Xiu can be caught wearing
pants and a shirt while working or testing out weapons, but in public she will
always wear a dress.
Build: Xiu is taller than the average
Mayan woman. She comes to a height that is roughly 5’8". She has a
physically fit build from years of rough housing with her older brothers and
from metal working. Her legs are long and toned, as are her arms. Her hands are
a bit smaller than average and are accompanied by rather short nails.
Carriage: Xiu has the ability to walk
gracefully, but she rarely does. She is usually too enthralled by her current
task than to worry about her posture. Xiu walks openly with her shoulders back
and her arms lying at her side. Her eyes are always intense and it seems as
though she is concentrating in the direction in which she is headed. She has a
rather fast paced walk which makes it difficult to keep up with her.
Voice: Her voice is a high alto. She
pronounces her words very clearly and tends to say things rather
matter-of-fact. When she becomes excited or happy Xiu’s speech increases in speed
and the pitch slightly elevates.
Personality:
If there was ever a need for a job to
get done, Xiu would be your prime candidate. She is a very determined
individual and she doesn’t like anything getting in the way of her current
task. She always seems to be doing something purposeful, whether it be working
on weapons, or even helping around her home. She is very proud of everything
she does, and she wouldn’t let anyone convince her otherwise. Xiu knows that
she does everything to the best of her extent and she loves the feeling of
accomplishing tasks. If anyone was ever dissatisfied with her work, Xiu would
get pretty miffed. Unlike most people, she would see this as an opportunity to
improve. She will always strive to be the best she can be.
She is aware that she isn’t the best
at everything, and because of this she feels a strong desire to improve. Xiu
loves competition. She likes testing her skills amongst others and she likes to
push her limits. Determination is a good thing, but it also bad to have too
much of it. Sometimes Xiu gets too involved in her task and she has a tendency
to exceed her limits. From time to time she needs a family member, or anyone
for that matter, to tell her that it’s time to quit
Xiu can appear aloof and detached
from the world. She always appears to be too engulfed in her own little world
than to notice what is going on around her. Xiu can easily be engulfed by her
current task, especially when she is making weapons. If someone was to come by
and ask her something, she probably wouldn’t hear them. She doesn’t do it
intentionally, and she will apologize if she accidentally ignores someone.
Many people don’t really know Xiu.
They often see her around her family’s business, or working with the Azteca,
but they never see her talk with friends, go to social events, etc. She just
appears to be a very one dimensional person who works all the time. Xiu isn’t
one dimensional by any means, but she does prefer to keep to herself. She is
very sociable around her family and very few friends, but she treats everyone
else in business-like manner. Xiu is always serious, and matter-of-fact with
strangers. She can seem unfriendly and cold to people she doesn’t know and when
talking to them she only prefers to say what needs to be said.
By now you have probably noticed that
Xiu works a lot. Whenever she is not fulfilling her duty as an Azteca she is
assisting her parents at their business. Some people get creeped
out buy Xiu because it appears that all of her spare time is spent working. She
seems so determined and so driven to complete a task that it edges people.
They’re like, “whoa, she’s been spending two days or more perfecting that
weapon? Yeesh!” Now when you come to think of it that can be a little creepy.
Especially since Xiu can’t stop until she has done her job to the best of her
extent.
Most people believe that Xiu is shy
because she keeps to herself. Contrary to belief, Xiu isn’t shy. She just
doesn’t see a point in talking and being social with people she doesn’t know.
She always has a task that needs to be done, and talking with others would only
deter her from that task. When strangers attempt to ask her personal things Xiu
tries to avoid the question and continue on with the task at hand. It is
doubtful if Xiu will ever find a husband or anything of the sort, and she
frankly doesn’t care. She has too much ambition in life than to be tied down by
another person. The only possible way for her to find a companion was if the
other person had similar ambitions as she, and if the other person was the one
to make the first move.
This isn’t to say that Xiu has no
life. She does enjoy working, but she also enjoys spending time with her
family. Around her family Xiu appears to be more relaxed and friendly. She
tells them stories, she laughs, and she is always there when she needs
them. At night she likes coming home,
sitting down, talking, or even cooking. When Xiu is upset she finds comfort in
her home and family. She usually talks to her brothers about her problems; they
are the only other people that know her the best. Xiu feels safe telling them
anything, but she will consult her mother if the problem is more
"girl" related. In her spare time Xiu likes designing weapons. She
has shown her family her inventions, and they find them to be promising. At home Xiu enjoys cooking for her family.
She also likes to hang out with her brothers from time to time. Xiu and her
brothers will sometimes go swimming in the lake nearby their home when they are
not tied down to their family duties.
Xiu has a very strong tie to her
family. When she is away from them for extended periods of time she feels
homesick, especially when she’s on missions for the Azteca. Xiu quickly learned
that feeling homesick would not able her to complete her Azteca duties as well
as she would like. Today she tries to brush off her homesick feelings because
she realizes that they only deter her from her duty. Others have a hard time
telling if Xiu is sad or homesick, but sometimes it is noticeable by the
distant look in her eyes.
Besides her family, Xiu doesn’t have
many friends. She has a bunch of acquaintances, but it’s not like she hangs out
with them or anything of the sort. When Xiu does make that occasional friend,
she has a tendency to treat them like they’re her family. She slowly opens up
to the other person and allows herself to temporarily shed her rather cold and
distant exterior. Sometimes she may even baby her friends. If anything ever
happened to them she would be there to assist them, just like a mother hen. Xiu
is very protective of her family and friends, for they are the people she truly
cares about.
Xiu appears stable almost all of the
time. Most people never see her complain, argue, or get angry. She does get
angry, but she usually prefers to keep her frustrations inside. She knows it’s
bad to do so, and that is why she feels a need to consult her family
occasionally. In confrontations Xiu would try to back off. She just doesn’t see
a need to resort to physical violence if it can be avoided. This isn’t to say
that she won’t fight back, Xiu certainly will when the occasion presents
itself. Years of rough housing with brothers and metal working have left her
with a strong and able body. It would not be easy to take Xiu down.
Xiu likes having a purpose and a
duty; she likes being an Azteca. In the field Xiu enjoys working along side
with other Warriors and formulating plans. Xiu has a fairly logical and
analytical mind and can easily assist with that sort of thing. She is also
skilled in hand to hand combat. Xiu usually prefers to use weapons or even
plain ol’ fighting. Xiu doesn’t condone using her magic frequently because of
its destructive capabilities. She would also prefer to reserve as much energy
as possible, and magic only drains that.
Xiu is a very dependable teammate because she has yet to let anyone
down. People who work with her know that she will try her hardest to complete
the task assigned and they feel safe knowing she is with them.
In short, Xiu is a very driven
individual. She doesn’t like people getting in the way of her tasks, but she
will always try her hardest to complete them. Xiu likes getting tasks done, she
likes challenges, and she is a proficient fighter. Even though she is rather
closed off to strangers, she does like to have fun with her family and friends.
Pros: Dependable, hard working,
stable, strong (mentally and physically), self-reliant
Cons: Doesn’t know when to quit,
closed off, aloof
History:
Xiu grew up in a medium size farming
village that was located close to an urban city. As a child she watched her
father and mother work at their jobs. Her mother created jewelry; she used
everything from ordinary metal to gold. From time to time she would create
extra pieces of jewelry and give them to her family. Xiu also spent a lot of
her time watching her father create weapons out of metal, wood, and other such
items. Her father found her to be a remarkably quick learner, and by the age of
eight she was already able to make bows and arrows, knives, etc. It wasn’t
until the age of ten that Xiu was able to do finer and more precise pieces.
As a child Xiu was never really
concerned with school. She did alright in all of her subjects, but she tended
to do better in math. Xiu graduated from school at the age of ten like all
children, and she continued on to work for her family. For many generations
Xiu’s family has produced a number of fine metal smith’s. It was assumed that
Xiu’s brothers would be the one’s to take on the family’s trade. Instead, Xiu
was the next child to become a metal smith. Her father was thrilled at her
progress and her ability to quickly finish pieces. By the age of fifteen she
had become the best metal smith within the family, and probably one of the best
that the Talocan populous has ever seen.
While Xiu and her parents did all the
metal work, her brothers would take care of all of the business aspects. They
handled money, customer relations (more like complaints, or questions that the
customers had), they took orders, etc. People all over Talocan come to Xiu for
the best and finest pieces, and because of this, the family has raised their
prices. The family makes quite a bit of money, and they will certainly be well
off for awhile. Xiu’s brothers can do very basic metal work, but only if the
family needs an extra hand. Every member in Xiu’s family helps around the home
when they are not working.
Before I get too far on her history,
let me back track a little bit. Xiu had known that her mother was Huehueteotl
the warrior of fire and smoke. It was assumed that the star seed would stay in
Xiu’s family, and just as predicted, it did. Xiu’s family was pleasantly
surprised when Xiu was the next one to receive it. She became Huehueteotl at
the age of thirteen, making her a pretty young Azteca to start out with. This
was probably due to the fact that she had already harnessed her potential for
magic, and all of her necessary skills had developed. Soon after, Xiu’s mother
gave her a thick banded anklet with a ruby inset. She told her daughter that
she would use this to turn into Huehueteotl, the warrior of fire and smoke.
Xiu began her training for the unit
almost immediately. She was taught basic procedures such as fighting, how the
whole unit works, etc. Unlike most warriors in the unit she had a very broad
knowledge of weaponry. Xiu had read books and articles on weapons, and what she
didn’t read her family taught her. Pretty soon she became the first weapon expert
for the Azteca. Whenever the warriors needed information on a particular alien
or local weapon they would come to Xiu. Xiu was also known for her uncanny
ability to create weapons out of the most unusual items when needed. All she
would have to do was add a pinch of magic and “poof” she had a brand new
weapon. When her expertise on weapons was not needed, she served as a regular
foot soldier by helping on the field of battle.
As much as Xiu would like to help her
family out, she knows that she is very much needed in the unit. Her strong
powers and her abilities make her an excellent soldier, and therefore she is
often called upon to service. She has not been able to work at her family’s
business as much as she would like, but she helps them out every chance she
gets.
NPC’s:
Xiomara (42) – Xiu’s mother. Xiomara is a very loving and
sociable person. She always seems to be talking with her family, friends, or
even strangers. Contrary to belief, she can be a rather strict disciplinarian.
Her children know not to mess with her or else they’ll get in big trouble from
mom ^^;. Xiomara is an excellent person to be around, as long as you don’t say
anything stupid and are willing to talk to her. She is a metal smith, like her
husband and daughter. Unlike the rest of her family she crafts fine jewelry.
Xiomara comes to a height of 5’3”,
making her shorter than the rest of her family. She isn’t very thin, especially
since she’s had four children. Around her stomach and back she’s got quite a
bit of pudge. Xiomara looks so short and plump it’s almost cute, it makes you
want to hug her. She looks like the typical mom full of love and warmth who
just baked a fresh batch of cookies. How could you not resist that ^^;? Her
eyes are almond shaped and are a striking purplish blue color. Xiomara’s hair
reaches down to her mid-back and is a rich dark brown. She often pulls her hair
into a tight bun or ponytail.
Tlacoehua (13) – The middle
brother. Tlacoehua seems to be a bit lost in the loop. His older sister is
always getting attention because of her metal smithing skills, his older
brother is constantly getting praise for everything he does, and his mother is
always tending to Yoltzin. Between the three, there seems to be a lot less
attention given to him. Because of this he often craves attention, and will
sometimes do very stupid things to get it. Xiomara is often scolding him or
telling him to keep quiet. Mainly he helps do simple chores around the family’s
shop or home. The family doesn’t trust him enough to handle weapons.
Tlacoehua has a very thin build. He’s
a bit scrawny, and sometimes he gets poked fun at because of it. His height
reaches 5’6” making him sometimes appear older than he actually is. People
often mistake him for being sixteen, and sometimes he likes to take advantage
of it vv;. Tlacoehua has curly, short, reddish brown hair and bright green
eyes.
Izel (21) – The older brother. Like
Xiu, Izel is a very proud individual. He seems to excel in a lot of areas. As a
kid his grades in school were superb, and his business handling skills have
exceeded his family’s expectation. Izel tends to be the voice of reason for the
family and he usually sorts out all the family’s conflicts. Izel stand at a
whopping six feet, which makes him one of the tallest members of the family.
His body is slender and he doesn’t appear to have much muscle definition. He is
always well groomed and from time to time he will make a fuss if his clothes or
his appearance aren’t “perfect”. Izel’s hair is a rich mahogany color which
falls to his shoulders. His eyes are an intense and alluring turquoise. Girls
often flock to Izel because he’s so “handsome and perfect”.
Tlexictli (41) – Xiu’s father.
Tlexictli is a patient and persistent individual. He takes his time in
everything he does in order to insure that it is done correctly. Like his daughter, he cannot quit until the
job is done to the best of his standards. He works at the family business as a
weapon smith. His skills are no where near as good as Xiu’s but they are still
exceeded past most metal smiths. He is rather laid back and doesn’t feel any
need to worry. Tlexictli likes to enjoy life to its fullest, especially with
his family by his side.
Tlexictli has a very warm and
personable aura. His body has a lot of muscle mass, which is due to many years
of metal smithing. Like his daughter Xiu, he has faint freckles on his face.
His facial features are warm and soft, and he always appears to have a slight
smile. Tlexictli stands 5’9” with an open and relaxed posture. His hair is short
and spiky, it is also black. He has round hazel eyes which add to his pleasant
appearance.
Yoltzin (7) – The wee-ster. Yoltzin is
rather obedient for his age. He seems to have more common sense than a thirty
year old, but despite this he is still curious. This is probably due to the
fact that he is still young and doesn’t know a whole lot of things. Yoltzin
often prefers to watch what his older siblings are doing. He feels that he can
learn a lot by doing this, and it is slowly paying off. From time to time he
asks his family questions like “what’s this?” or “why are you doing that?”.
Yoltzin is also rather shy and cautious; he tries to avoid getting hurt when
possible. He truly is the baby of the family.
Yoltzin only comes to a height of 4’8”,
but this is due to his young age. His entire body is covered by freckles, which
only adds to his cute and childish appearance. He still has a childish build,
baby fat still remains on parts of his body, but in general his is considered
to have a healthy build and weight. His hair is short curly, and sometimes the
occasional curl hangs past his ears. Yoltzin’s hair is mahogany with a reddish
undertone. His eyes are grey, but they are very wide and curious.
Part III: Soldier Information
Special Skills:
Weapons knowledge – Xiu is j00 mama
when it comes to weapons. She can make them for you, or she can tell you about
all the different types.
Cooking – As a child Xiu was taught
how to cook by her mother, but she has been doing it avidly for the past few
years. She’s made many different dishes for her family, and she might even
event her own later on. Xiu loves to cook.
Strength – Xiu has a lot of mental
and physical strength. In a battle she would probably last a lot longer than
the average Azteca. She wouldn’t be invincible, but she would certainly be one
of the last ones to drop.
Weapon making – Xiu could make a
weapon out of just about anything. All she needs is a dash of magic and she’s
got a brand spanking new weapon.
Fire manipulation – Xiu can
manipulate a fire in any direction. She can also increase or decrease it. Just like
Pyro, from X-Men.
Anti-burn (Warrior for only) – Xiu cannot
be burned by fire in her Warrior form. Instead, the fire would feel like a cool
current moving across her skin.
Magic level: As a young child Xiu had difficulty harnessing her magic. Her
parents were unsure whether it was because she had very weak magic, or because
it was too strong for her to control it. As the years went by it soon became
evident that Xiu had a powerful potential for magic. She soon learned to
control her abilities and use them wisely. As a warrior Xiu could definitely
unleash powerful attacks. Most of the time she prefers to do things by hand,
even when she is fighting. She will only use magic when she deems it to be
absolutely necessary.
Powers:
Nelli Tlachinolli "fire of truth"
Footage:
Effects: The fire produced from this
attack will only hurt those who have an impure soul, in other words, those who
are considered pure evil. The fire will surround the victim forcing them to
stay in their current position (unless they are willing to jump through the
flames). The victim will begin to feel a tingling sensation inside their
stomach, which will spread along their spine. Pretty soon the victim begins to
burn from the inside out and within moments their body incinerates. The fire
from this attack does not burn like a normal fire. It burns from the inside
out, making this attack extremely painful. The fire ceases once the opponent is
killed and a heavy smoke is left in its place. The smoke clears within minutes,
but this can also be determined by current wind speeds, etc. This attack can be
used four times per henshin and can only affect a maximum of two people at
once. Even then, the two people would have to be standing very close to each
other. It can be blocked by magic greater than
Yayauhqui "black smoking mirror"
Footage:
Effects: The popped ball sends out
an explosion which can easily knock people off of their feet if they are
standing extremely close to it. Hue knows better and she usually jumps back or
falls to the ground after popping it, but sometimes she still gets knocked down
from her own attack ^^;. This attack is useful because it can confuse enemies
and allow the warriors to get a quick getaway. The smoke covers a radial
distance of about thirty feet in diameter.
Tlatla Etalpalli "burning wings of the phoenix"
Footage:
Effects: This is
Fuku:
Henshin: Xiu lifts both of her arms to the sky and says “Mocuepa”. The
backdrop behind her turns into a flurry of red, orange, and yellow colors.
Xiu’s body blacks out and she begins to spin clockwise. As she spins strips of
fire stream from her anklet and begin to engulf her body completely. Finally,
there is a bright flash and a loud boom. Xiu is left in full fuku with her legs
shoulder width apart and her hands rested on her hips.
Gemstone: Ruby, because it represents power, energy, and determination.
It’s also red, like fire. Her henshin gemstone is on a gold band that is always
attached to Xiu’s ankle.
Guardian: No guardian here =p.
Part IV: Other Information
RP Experience: I’ve RPed on message boards before, but I’ve never participated
in a PBeM RPG. Yep, I’m a n00b.
Miscellaneous: I created Xiu with the intention of making her different than
the typical fire senshi with an Aries attitude, and I’m pretty impressed that I
got this far. Anyway… this is one of my few attempts at creating such a long
and extensive application. Any help or advice that you could give me on
improving Xiu would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, that’s for the pre-review

Part V: Grammar Check
I will
write one if it is requested of me, but for now I will leave this area blank.
Part VI: Multimedia
I drew a
picture! But… my scanner’s broken. I don’t know if there will ever be any
pictures by me on this website, but keep checking ^^;. Or you could be uber-awesome
and donate/draw some to me *.*.
This character was created by me, Jen. Please be nice and respect what I
have made. It took hours to create this character and I don’t need someone
stealing my character, slapping a wig on her, and giving her a different name
><;. This character was designed for
