My name is Michael J. Morris. I am a dancer and choroegrapher, as well as a costumer for dance works. As an artist, I believe in utilizing movement as a medium for expressing and exploring the ineffable qualities of subjective experience and the nature of existence. By creating choreographic works which pursue these goals, as well as an understanding of the world in which we live and the common truths which may be discovered in the conjunction of a wide range of individual experiences, I seek to strengthen interpersonal connections and reinforce the vitality of communities. I believe in collaboration between artists and dialogue surrounding the work in order that these ends might be more efficiently pursued.

I graduated form Belhaven College in May 2007 with my BFA in Dance. I am currently continuing to reside in Jackson, MS where I am waiting to discover what the next season may hold for me.

This site is a reflection of this process. It is also a kind of document of much of my life. There are some very old pages, and some reference to some newer work and ideas. I try and keep it updated with most recent works. I hope you find something meaningful in these pages.

Be blessed
~Michael
