Heritage Days:
A Celebration of African Influence
This was a project that my brother and I had the opportunity to work with Shanna Forrestall on May 9th and 10th in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. This was a weekend of art, music, poetry, and a weekend honoring Claiborne Williams, jazz great. We were primarily assisting in the art field, with classes for students, exhibits, and a reception on the 9th (pictures below). We both exhibited art, and I hung the show, and the decore, literally transforming the Historic Donaldsonville Museum. Other artists involved were Chancelier "Xero" Skidmore (national champion slam poet), Alvin Batiste (visual artist), Aaron Hogan (photographer), Kira Orange Jones (film director), Jerome Ford (visual artist), Roberta Patino (ceramic artist), Dianae Troullier (storyteller and dollmaker), Sarah Werntz (visual artist), Natalie Clay (visual artist), and Nicole Frazier (visual artist). Each one's work was extraordinary, and contributed so much. Enjoy what you see!
