Free State Fly Fishers is affiliated with the Mid-Atlantic Council of the Federation of Flyfishers, with membership drawn mostly from Annapolis, Bowie, Davidsonville, Anne Arundel and Prince George's Counties, Maryland. The mission of the Federation of Fly Fishers is to lead activities that enhance and support the fly fishing experience for all anglers who fish with the artificial fly. In addition the Free State Fly Fishers was formed on November 13, 1978 as a non-profit organization with a mission of conservation.

MEETING LOCATION and DIRECTIONS

The Free State Fly Fishers meet the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30 PM. The meeting site is located in Davidsonville, MD at the Davidsonville Family Recreation Center (DFRC) in the Clubhouse behind Ford Hall, on Queen Anne Bridge Road off of MD Route 214.

DIRECTIONS TO THE DAVIDSONVILLE FAMILY RECREATION CENTER (A MAP is available at the new website)

From Rt 50/301: Take Davidsonville Rd (Rt 424) south 3.2 miles to Rt 214. Go right 0.7 miles to Queen Anne Bridge Rd. Turn left and go 1.2 miles to the DFRC.

From Rt 2: Take Rt 214 west 3.7 miles to Queen Anne Bridge Rd. Turn left and go 1.2 miles to the DFRC.

Oyster Restoration on the Chesapeake Bay

Growing Oysters in Floating Pens

Tony Friedrich, Executive Director of MD CCA, will talk on growing oysters in floating pens. CCA members have had considerable success growing oysters in the Patuxent River last year, and this year oyster pens are starting up in the Severn River.
