Poem for a Friend

Once upon a time in this dream I once had,
There was no pain, no heartache, nothing to make you sad.

Oh how that world sounds inviting doesn't it?
No tears, no fears, no relationships that quit.

But you and me, my friend, live in quite a different place,
Where some days it's damn hard to put on a smiling face.

And that's okay cuz you don't always have to be stong-
There will be times when everything in life goes wrong.

I know and I will understand for my life sucks sometimes too-
And I don't know where to turn, but I know I could turn to you.

I will tell you a secret- one to remember
Love is a wonderful thing that warms even the coldest days of December.

But true love can break the heart like nothing else can.
But don't think that heartbreak is easy for the man.

Sometimes people need changes - of people, of things, and of life-
Even when these changes cause us horrible pain and strife.

I know how you feel - I loved a guy too.
I have him everything I had and my love still stays true.

Time heals things- whether they end good or bad
And sometimes you can start over after feeling so sad.

An end may never be permanent
For what bond two loved ones is as strong as cement.

Sometimes you will cry and sometimes you will want to die
I know you will constantly ask yourself why.

But hold your head up, breathe, and smile
And know that to help you I'll go the extra mile.
