Lovers in the Sky

If our love was represented by the night’s sky

You’d be the full moon lighting my way,

Helping me every day to get by

And I’d be the stars shining and pining for you from light years away.

In the light of day you’d be the sun

Burning me as I absorb your rays without a second thought,

If placed in that same sky I can’t imagine it being fun

For I would have to try to be something that I’m not

I would be a cloud for the purpose of blocking your harmful light

But I’d just be hiding you from the world so they couldn’t view

All that there is that I love about you and I’d just be wishing for night

When you’d take form as the moon and I’d be the stars surrounding you

Let the darkness engulf us for then our true brightness the world does see

As we burn with desire now and forever faithfully.
