A Fairy Tale

-

Once upon a time there was a lonely girl who longed for a boy
Then a boy came along who showed her love and showed her joy

His smile made her heart fill with pleasure
And she gave him her love without measure

His promises were of his undying love
And of an intimacy that would place her above

Above all the other girls he wanted and got
But for her there weren't many, for she was unsought

Whenever she opened her heart to any but him
The gesture was unwanted and the outcome grim

He was the only boy who maade her feel
Feel special, pretty, desired, and most of all... real

The girl worried about and nagged at the boy because she cared
And more than anything this, wished for a chance to once again experience the love that they shared

Some days she'd feel as though their love had come to an end
Then she'd cry and cry for if she knew that true, then her heart would never mend

When he told her he still loved her and always would, she'd never been
Been so ready to face the world and to chance heartbreak once again

But once again she wasn't the one he'd wanted right then
So she cried, then decided she'd wait days, months, maybe even until the years turned into ten

They'd been the very best friends for so long
And there was some unseen bond that tied them together which was strong

The girl often wondered when they'd be together
And if they'd be given the chance for an after of happily ever.
