A candle-lit cathedral
flames soar
sweat of bodies mingle
in shadows cast, upon stained glass
shoulder dirtied
by years
by tears of many nations
bodies through habit play their part
eyes meet solemnly
ears hear holy words
spoken by blasphemous tongue
mouth repeating words learned
in the land of the soul
hands comforting
forced through familiar patterns
priest and neighbor
whore and her lover.
A moss covered bank
an eagle circles above
tears mingle, and leaves
in currents swept downstream
virgin purity
of tears
cried in a mountain brook
high above snow-topped mountains
dragons float on thermals
birds sing in the trees
unicorn drinks from the stream
hiccup and sob, muffled
by quiet breezes
whispering, be still
be one with me
lion and lamb
virgin daughter and unicorn.
