There are a few things to note about demihuman Specialists:
Specialists whose Racial Alignment matches their School
Alignment *must* be of that Alignment: Gnome Illusionists (CN),
Kobold Diviners (LN), Drow Necromancers (CE) and Elven
Transmuters (CG) are all subject to this rule.
Elven/Drow Specialists of other Schools must have an
Intelligence of 16 or greater, and must choose either their
School or their Racial Alignment. Thus, an Elven Metamage must
choose between CG or TN. In either case, they never recieve
the 10% bonus to their XP awards.
The various New and Degenerate races (other than Humans and
Orcs) have not been exposed to magic long enough to gain the
rounded viewpoint of the True Mage, and are thus limited to
the various specialist classes.
Degenerate Races (including Orcs) who choose to specialize in
one of the 'Good' Schools (Invocation/Evocation, Abjuration and
Alteration) must have a 16 or better Intelligence and cannot
get the XP bonus. They must either be Evil, Neutral, or of
their School's Alignment. Thus, an Orcish Transmuter could be
anything but LG or NG.
