They are the self-appointed high priests of truth and wisdom. We must look to them for all the "important" answers in life. They try to set themselves apart form the rest of us because they adhere to more exacting standards. What I see is age old human nature at play. Fallible men and woman desperately trying to bolster their importance and ego's by saying that only they have access to ultimate truth. But there lies the problem. Because it is only scientists who are able to perform these experiments and they have proven time and again that they are untrustworthy. All the fancy equipment in the world won't stop fraud. The most prestigous degrees are worthless if the person who has them is willing to sacrifice his ethics and integrity for money and/or a promotion.
If anybody is under the illusion that science is a dispassionate, objective search for truth and new ideas I have news for you. The history of science is one of entrenched protectionism of the status quo. The leading scientists of every generation dogmatically reject any new innovators becaue it often contradicts what they have been saying for the last couple of decades.
We don't have to go all the way back to Gallileo's persecution to see it. In the mid 1800's physician Ignaz Semmelweis was vilified for advocating hand washing after surgery. In 1879 Thomas Edison and his Carbon Arc lights, 1908 the Wright brothers and powered flight, 1912 E.L. Mole and the tank, 1926 John Logie Baird and his crazy invention, the television set.
These men and dozens more over the last hundred years have been ridiculed and ostracized by mainstream science. They were branded charlatans and fools for advocating ideas that were considered impossible by the cannons of science of the day.� The reason all great innovators and visionaries are publicly crucified by mainstream scientists is because their ideas often contradict the ideas held by establishment scientists who have much invested in the established order.. It's a massive blow to the ego's for them to have to admit that they have been wrong for 20 or more years.
As Eisntein said, "Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities..."
The fact remains that human knowledge is built largley on the testimony of people from ages past. The bedrock of� information is the exchange of ideas and experiences by people from many different cultures, from family, friends and teachers. History, newspapers, our legal system are all heavily reliant on reliable first person testimony. We do not need scientists with all their agendas, ego's and double blind studies to know when somebody is telling us the truth, especially about a life threatening disease.
If your relative, friend or aquaintence tells you they have been diagnosed with cancer, you know that they are telling the truth. If they tell you that they are going to try an alternative treatment and six months later they are cancer free, you know that it is a very high probability that the alternative treatment had something to do with it. When thousands of other people swear by it we know it works for some people.
Orthodox medicine says that our friends and family are either lying about having cancer in the first place or they had a "spontaneous remission," in other words, a miracle. Spontaneous remissions do occur, very rarely, but why would they keep occurring to people who take alternative treatments?
Of course people lie and decieve for a variety of reasons. But when you have dozens of independent testimonies from people with no motive for lying saying the same thing, it demands, at the least, a more thorough documented investigation. Thousands of people have stated that Laetrile/Amygdalin and the Hoxsey natural treatments have cured them of cancer. But still mainstream medicine tells us it is worthless; just like the television set and the aeroplane, right?
No wonder scientists want to desperately try to discredit anecdotal evidence, because it directly contradicts their many times fraudulent clinical trials, perpertrated by them as pure scientific truth! As Dr. Raymond Keith Brown says;
"With few exceptions, major advances in traditional medicine have come from basic observation of the patient and his disease and from the reasoning of individual physicians, not from the direction and consensus of committees or authority...Medical scientism ignores the empirical approaches of traditional medicine. It discounts clinical observation as being "anecdotal" and enshrines as the sole basis for valid medical judgement, statistical analysis, double blind studies and the prevailing consensus of opinion."
As I have stated numerous times througout this website. If double blind studies were working then it would be great, but they are a catastophic failure. The scientists have been doing it their way for�over four decades and have failed miserably. All their complex testing and expensive equipment coupled with highly qualified people has failed to make any progress at all in finding an effective treamtent for cancer. Yet they still strictly adhere to the pharmaceutical companies agenda of only investigating patentable man made treatments and pouring billions of dollars down the same drain that has failed for over forty years.
