| short bio: the exies, their name inspired by the philosophically dour existentialists, were created in 1997 in Los Angeles. The band's sound molds late '60s British Invasion pop with futuristic wall-of-sound guitars. The band recorded their debut LP, the exies, at the legendary Reflection Studios in Charlotte, North Carolina with producer Steven Haigler (Oleander, Quicksand, Fuel). Featuring singable melodies, gripping chort progressions and some fancy guitar effects, the exies' 11-track debut is a surefire, hook-filled knockout. |

is lower cased due to the band's preference. (short for the existentialists) "Feeling Lo-Fi," "Baby's Got a New Revelation," "Straight Girl of the Universe," and "1970." "One and one-half cups sonic wallop of the Kinks, Badfinger and the Who baked to pop perfection with a golden brown crust of Cheap Trick and Stone Temple Pilots." - Album Network by artist Bill Maul (band fell in love with painting when they saw it in the Steve Martin/Eddie Murphy flick, Bowfinger) the four members were magnetically drawn to each other based on their mutual admiration for the Beatles (also an admiration, or obsession, of Christina's). the exies' self-titled debut album explores their noise-pop fetish on 11 originals and one hidden track. They like to sing (and dream) mostly about girls, the '70s, and outerspace - against a backdrop of elegant melodies, graceful chord progressions and some fancy-schmancy guitar effects. |
