| Name: Capt. Lefty Archetype: Defender Powers: Radiation Emission, Psychic Blast Description: Capt. Lefty gained his powers from the radioactive backlash of an errant blast during the Rikti Invasion, on his birthday in 2002. He can create a radioactive cloud that temporarily makes foes "left handed", and unable to attack accurately, and also assaults them with demoralizing psychic suggestions about how they have wrongfully abused southpaws, and such. Also known as Nigel Fingers, his alter ego, Capt. Lefty prides himself on being one of the most accessable of the upper level members of Freedom Squad. His door is always open to other members, and he takes it upon himself to keep the morale of the organization up, sometimes hosting squad barbecues, and handing out gift certificates to his specialty store, "Leftopia". | Name: Grey Turbine Archetype: Blaster Powers: Electric Blast, Electricity Manipulation, Flight Description: Grey Turbine volunteered to undergo "power bestowment therapy" by Hero Corps shortly after his parents, a butler and maid working in Founder's Falls, were killed. A procedure to give him super deductive reasoning (his intended hero name was going to be "Grey Matter"), somehow instead gave him vast ability to generate electricity based on his emotional state. His sarcastic wit and somewhat distant childishness is in fact his way of controlling his emotions, to prevent himself from acidentally overloading, and hurting those around him unintentionally. He also says that's why he's to lazy to show up for most of the Freedom Squad meetings. Quote: "With me around, every (criminal's) seat is an electric chair!" |
| Name: Mr. Nowhere Archetype: Scrapper Powers: Dark Melee, Dark Armor, Teleportation Description: Millionare Vincent Grant traveled the world with an obsession for knowledge. He learned the ways of speed and control from the Chinese, mastered the dark arts from a Voodoo Priestess, and unlocked ancient secrets within the tombs of Eygpt. But he wielded this new found power like a toy, and crime became his hobby. And he was good � too good. Making many enemies, an attack meant for him killed his sister. Now, with the name Mr. Nowhere, he fights crime to redeem his own sins. As a sitting member of Freedom Squad�s Directors Circle, Mr. Nowhere is very mysterious. Rarely does he speak, but when he does it's often an important insight or observation. Being an expert in the occult, cultures, and artifacts, the Circle turn to his expertise on such matters. Although most of his time is devoted to following his own investigations, Mr. Nowhere frequently mentors apprentices within the Freedom Squad. Quote: "Don't bother lurkng in the shadows, fiends... | Name: Dark Ghost Archetype: Tanker Powers: Invulnerability, Super Strength, Stealth, Leaping Description: Finding the anger to punish evil-doers when a girl dumped him, Dark Ghost despenses his own brand of street justice, armed with superhuman strength and the ability to take a staggering amount beating. While at times he�s a bit of a braggart and a moron, Dark Ghost is deeply commited to fighting crime. While much of his fury is no doubt a result of his own inadequacies (this author�s opinion), he has enormous contempt for the villains who�ve preyed upon a vulnerable Paragon City ever since the Rikti War. Despite his seeming dislike for all people in general, he joined Freedom Squad to be a part of a team of superheroes. This seems to contradict his inflated ego, but infact it underscores Dark Ghost�s commitment in the battle against the endless tide of villainy. Quote: "Don't fear me, fellas. | Name: Delirium Dream Archetype: Controller Powers: Mind Control, Empathy Description: Ivy Forrester, aka Delirium Dream, is the result of the coupling of a human mother and the physical manifestation of the Spirit of Dreams. Naturally this made birthday parties and family reunions a bit strange. I mean, yeah, he'd show up ... but always late and with his buddies. And bring your daughter to work day? A disaster. And try explaining to Ivy's mother that you can't pay child-support because the Universe doesn't pay a salary! Regardless of all this childhood turmoil, Delirum seems pretty well adjusted. Now she uses her powers of mind control to attack criminals with painful and torturous mind-assaults. After her first year of college she decided to try out being a full-time superhero and joined the Freedom Squad. She hasn't decided if she's going to return to school next year or continue on with full-time crimefightng. Quote: "Sleep evil-doers ... And dream of those you've hurt with your misdeeds." |
| Name: Red Blaze Archetype: Tanker Powers: Fiery Aura, Fiery Melee, Flight Description: Angel Blaise never felt accepted by society. She was always an outsider, and that was fine by her. But one fateful day she was bestowed with the magical powers of flame by the Goddess Kologoth. The Goddess said she had spent centuries searching for her next champion, and now with Angel, she had finally found her. Destined to protect the very people she withdrew from, at first Angel resisted. But with time she came to terms with her fate and accepted Kologoth�s offer. Now, still grasping the true nature of her responsibilities, she slowly grows into her new role as a superhero. Quote: "Is it hot in here ... or is it just me?" |
| Name: Donny Chaps (aka The Yellow Bolt) Archetype: None Powers: None Position: Executive Administrator Description: When Donny Chaps was born, little did anyone know of the greatness he would later be involved with ... as a part of the great superhero agency ... Freedom Squad. As an indespensible member of Freedom Squad�s staff, his responsibilities are both vital and formitable. His duties entail organizing Freedom Squad�s vast information network, coordinating communication between heroes, maintaining and running the organization�s website, and refilling the coffee in the coffee machine. Donny, also known as The Yellow Bolt, dons his personally created superhero costume as a display of his dedication to Freedom Squad. While he doesn�t have any superpowers of any kind, he finds the Freedom Squad heroes readily embrace him as if he were one of their own. In his spare time he enjoys drawing caricatures, reading comics, and growing lemons. Quote: "May the light of freedom guide our way!" |

| Name: Freedom Man Archetype: Controller Powers: Gravity Manipulation, Empathy Description: Ever since he was a young child, Chad Evensmell wanted badly to fight crime. So badly. Fightning crime. Badly. Anyway, he spent his entire youth preparing himself for the day that he somehow gained super powers and could roam the streets as a hero. He practiced his hero talk, and his catchphrases, and refined them, and made new ones, and refined them, until his arsenal of rhetoric was so vast, his parents had him legally declared a rambling weirdo, and he was sent to an orphanage to "get it out of his system". In the orphanage, he ate some bad gruel, which triggered his DNA to mutate into a form that tempered him into the hero he always tried to will himself to be. He dubbed himself Freedom Man in honor of the Freedom Squad, who accepted his application despite no practical experience, and now devotes himself to helping our organization rid the world of crime, and talking up an ocean of words while he does it. Quote: "Well, sleep tight tonight citizen. For this evening, you've got the spirit of the Freedom Squad lying next to you, gently massaging your scalp until you slip into the deep sleep of innocence, and your dreams are filled with mice and berries. And when that alarm clock of menace tries to jar you from your peaceful slumber, we'll be there to smack down that snooze button with the strength of all our arms united!" |

| Name: Pegasus Archetype: Controller Powers: Illusion Control, Kinetics Description: Clearly the most recognized member of Freedom Squad, Pegasus is the daughter of the legendary superhero couple Pantheon and Lady Nova. And as their only child, an enormous amount of attention was aimed at her as an heir apparent to the next generation of superheroes. But instead of embracing her celebrity, Pegasus hid from it. Against her parent’s wishes, she didn’t hit the streets clad in spandex, but instead attended college and earned a degree in Forensic Psychology. It wasn’t long, however, before her superpowers matured and the call of destiny grew too loud to ignore. But as always, Pegasus followed her own path and joined the Freedom Squad, a virtually unknown superhero organization based in Paragon City. While many critics cited this as further evidence of her as underachieving progeny, she was happy to find a place that finally fit her. In the Director’s Circle she is a moderating force of both wisdom and compassion, and offers a keen insight into the criminal mind. She’s knowledgeable, though not like the arcane intellect of Mr. Nowhere. She’s introspective, but not to the unyielding extent of Anomalous. She shows great warmth and compassion to her teammates, but not like the jolly, back-slapping of Capt. Lefty. And Grey Turbine … well, she’s not much like him at all. But being the “heart” of Freedom Squad, she’s often the hardest hit when a hero dies or when the tide of evil seems unstoppable. And unfortunately, there’s few she can confide in. To the other members, Pegasus is perhaps the most trusted and well liked member of the Director’s Circle. This makes it ideal that she’s in charge of personnel matters, and with Capt. Lefty, she assigns missions to the Heroes and Partners and helps them with their needs. The only time she loses her cool are the episodes when her celebrity parents “drop in” for a visit. Always with patronizing pointers to her and her star-struck comrads, it throws the Freedom Squad HQ into disorder for the entire day. Quote: "Look, Donny, I don't have a 'Quote' for you, okay? | Name: Johnny Passion Archetype: Tanker Powers: Invulnerability, Super Strength Description: John had accomplished so much in his life. A football star, a retired CIA agent, management of his family-owned dairy, and then, he got engaged to his beautiful high school sweetheart. But that all changed on his wedding day. A sinister attack by a cabal of mysterious super villans spared only the groom from the wedding party, and a heartbroken John P. Vengance changed his name, and his identity forever, into ... Johnny Passion! He is driven by his... well, his passion ... for those he loved and lost, and his need to avenge their memories is what caused him to join an organization who would surely point him towards evil, and set him loose upon their wickedness. | Name: King Og Archetype: Scrapper Powers: Retractable monkey claws, Combat Reflexes Description: Discovered at a young age in Madagascar, Og was an exceptionally bright, if overly energetic monkey. He was sent to the finest private schools in Paragon, until finally, on his graduation day, he was unleashed on the populace. Fortunately, he has so far only attacked bad guys. He has ceaseless energy and makes gutteral ramblings of his earnest declaration to being King Of All Monkeys. He signed up for the Freedom Squad at a career expo, perhaps if only to get the free bananna daquerie promised him by his recruiter, the Yellow Bolt (who needless to say did not consult with the Director's Circle when he signed Og on). If he ever actually goes on a mission for Freedom Squad, he could go far in this organization. Quote: "Poor Og. Hairy is head that wears crown." |
| Name: Doc Velocity Archetype: Tanker Powers: Energy Melee, Invulnerability, Super Speed Description: Once a doctor who used his hands to heal, he now uses those same hands to hurt those who would harm innocent people. Most especially Vahzilok, who uses medicine for evil. Well, atleast that's the story he tells everyone. Actually Doc V was more of a con artist per se. For a while he impersonated a doctor, and before that a car salesman ... he's even impersonated a superhero once. But when he discovered he acutally had superpowers, he decided to give the superhero career a go with his characterstic enthusiasm. And hey, if it doesn't work out, he can always try the supervillain... Quote: (after defeating a Vahzilok Cadaver) "Well, his tactics certainly were ... stitched together. (laughs) You could say he was ... dying to meet me. (laughs again). He was puking to ... uh ... in .... Eh, they can't all be gems." |

Although he retains a healthy friendship and financial backing from multi-industry mogul Howard Sparks, rumor has it that "Bliz" has been fighting for Paragon City for the last thirty years under various failed personas. Regardless, his extensive tactical skills and awesome powers make The Iron Blizzard a true inspiration both as a leader and a servant of Paragon City. | Name: Mjr. Glory Archetype: Tanker Powers: Invulnerability, Super Strength, Flight Description: Experimented upon by the US Army during WWII in repsonse to the Nazi threat, Mjr. Glory was deemed inferior to the cause and placed in cryogenic statis for legal reason. Fifty years later he was released to help thwart the threat of the Rikti invasion. Aside from his heroing duties he now performs lectures at schools across the country warning against the dangers of the 5th Column (now the Council), as well as performing PR duties for the government which includes pushing and adding to his toy line. | Name: Dr. Essence Archetype: Defender Powers: Empathy, Energy Blast Description: British born Doctor Jonathan Quinessence, a former archeaologist during the 1800's, is the third incarnation of the Guardian of Light and Keeper of the Fiver Barriers. His abilities were granted to him when his hands fell upon the idol of Light, a prison created centuries ago during the Mage Wars. Both the Circle of Thorns and the Tsoo found the idol at the same time as Dr. Quinessence resulting in Dr. Essence's debut and first conflict. Since the return of the Guardian of Light order has been restored and the balance is being maintained. The five barriers are five worlds that overlap one another yet exist within separate dimensions with earth in the center of a vast interdimensional war between good and evil, literallt. Earth is the battlefield of this war. It is up to Dr. Essence as the Guardian of Light to keep the war in check and protect the innocent from being casualties of a millineium old conflict. | Name: Fail-Safe Archetype: Blaster Powers: Energy Blast, Devices, Super Jump Description: In the British Secret Service’s Superbring Investigation Unit, Nigel Crowley was the crème of the crop. Utilizing the government’s impressive array of secret technology and weaponry. He had assisted in the hunting and capturing of the world’s most notorious super villains. Unfortunately, after his epic battle with the radioactive monster called “Megaton”, Nigel was stricken with severe radiation poisoning. It took years to recover from the encounter, and his strength has never fully recovered. Long since retired from OHMSS, he has relucatantly returned to his life of hunting super villains. Finding that he is quite out o practive, he has come to Paragon City to experiment with new devices of his own design, and to return to “game form.” He is particularly distressed to find the mercenary organization known as the Sky Raiders is comprised mostly of similar villain hunters trained by the American government. | Name: Spectron Archetype: Blaster Powers: Energy Blast Description: Maxfield Parrish (“Max”) Richards is the son of famed artists Michael Richards and Karen Stratton-Richards. Evincing considerable artistic ability at an early age, Max had obviously inherited his parents’ talent. By the time he was in college, Max had already begun moving in elevated artistic circles when, unexpectedly, his mutant energy powers appeared and changed the direction of his life. Now, answering to the higher calling of his powers have placed him on, Max is trying to balance his duty as the colorful hero, Spectron, with his needs as an artist to express himself creatively. |

| Name: Night Watcher Archetype: Scrapper Powers: Martial Arts, Super Reflexes Description: The Night Watcher first aquired notoriety during the 1940's when he defended Paragon City from looters while Atlas defended the city from a nazi invasion. Decades later, Night Watcher has been forced out of retirement by the kidnapping of his granddaughter, Alice. Who the kidnappers are is not certain. It is believed that they are aware of the Night Watcher's alter ego and the kidnapping is a means to bait him, though the possibility of a random kidnapping has not been ruled out. Regardless of the reasons, the Night Watcher has come out of retirement to personally search for his granddaughter. Though he has remained in shape, the Night Watcher has been out of practice and is not in the peak condition he once was. In time, however, he has no doubt he will be up to the challenges before him. Aside from constantly training, the Night Watcher ingests natural herbs that help to enhance his abilities, which also have the side effect of slowing down the aging process due to years of use. | Name: Prof. Primate Archetype: Tanker Powers: Super Strength, Invulnerability Description: Professor Primate was once a gorilla being used in an experiment to expand intelligence by Dr. Trent Trunt at Rhode Island State University. When the gorilla began to show signs of intelligent awareness, and then actual communication, Dr. Trunt decided it was time to use the serum on his mentally challenged daughter. Too late, the super-intelligent gorilla realized the miscalculation in Dr. Trunt's serum. Dr Trunt's daughter reverted into a savage state, in which the doctor blamed on the gorilla. Eventually the gorilla adopted the name Gorilla Man, brought Dr. Trunt to justice for crimes against science law and has since adopted the doctor's daughter, Priscilla, and now seeks to revert her back to normal. In the mean time, as savage as she is, Priscilla is kept in her cage for her own safety. Eventually, Gorilla Man recieved a masters in biochemistry and physics and has since adopted the name Professor Primate. He now teaches at RISU and is very public about who he is. | Name: Hollowtree Archetype: Tanker Powers: Invulnerability, Battle-Axe, Leaping Description: Jonah Kolard abruptly disappeared from his job in the timberlands of Paragon's outskirts after receiving news of the violent deaths of his wife and son at the hands of a yet unidentified killer. Three years on, the Hollowtree relentlessly searches for clues on the cold trail of his family's demise, evading police and venting his anger on the gangs and thieves he meets along the way. Although he has never confronted the law, he is considered psychologically unstable and dangerous. But, he's available from 2PM until 8PM on weekdays, making him an ideal Freedom Squad member. | Name: Orriah Archetype: Controller Powers: Illusion Control, Kinetics, Teleportation Description: Lynn Evans is just an average, everyday college student, perhaps a bit more inquisitive than most. What's not average about her is her bloodline. All of the women in her family are ordained with a mysterious magical lifeforce. In each this mystical force manifests itself in its own unique way, based on the woman they become. Lynn's elder sister, Mary, embraced this lifeforce early and emerged as the dark rogue mystic "Mashiva." Lynn, on the other hand, tried to ignore her birthright for as long as she could, but her curious nature and her need to 'get to the bottom' of things has driven her closer to her newfound, still raw powers. In the meantime, she tries to juggle her new identity, "Orriah", where she stalks the streets of Paragon City investigating crime, and the normal life she craves so much. | Name: Anomalous Archetype: Blaster Powers: Fire Blast, Fire Manipulation, Flight Description: Once a great inventor, the creation that gave him the awesome power to control solar energy also robbed him of his humanity. The technology rooted itself into every part of his body, making him a machine, and then left him with no memory of the man he used to be. After years of searching for his past, Anomalous finally discovered a wife and daughter who believed he was dead. To this day Anomalous has not yet revealed himself to them. With no memory of his family, and with little understanding of his own emotions, he fears he would only cause them greater pain. As a member of Freedom Squad Director's Circle, he is ponderous, thorough, and systematic in his discussion of all affairs. Always serious, with little or no sense of humor, his methodical approach is usually why most Directors Circle meetings run late. Anomalous is very much an opposite to Grey Turbine, whose loose style and informal sensibilities are often at odds with his own formal diligence. Because he does not require sleep, Anomalous is always on duty, making him the most consistent member of Freedom Squad. He can either be found at Freedom Squad HQ or routinely patrolling for crime. And, having virtually no ego, he doesn't hestate to help on Freedom Squad missions regardless of how small the task may be Anomalous lost his right arm in a defeat against the Clockwork monster Babbage. While he is typically unemotional, he greatly desires to face the beast again and destroy him. Quote: "We must delve deeper into this... I fear there is more at hand than we realize."
