Follow your heart by:wildmustang (It had been days since the first day of starvation. I didn`t know since the day of starvation could lead to the end of the Cimarron herd) Spirit looked at the sky. It was dark and a raindrop fell and ran down his muzzle. He ran to Esperanza, whinning about the raindrop. He nieghed to the herd. They perked their heads up. Rain fell from the sky. Wind blew hard. Branches from trees were being ripped off. A newborn foal who was gray with a white snip couldn`t survive the wind. Then Spirit turned his head. The foal was being swept away. The mother nieghed franticly. Spirit charged to the colt, his nose flaring and his legs flying. The foal was almost off a clift! Spirit ran faster. Above him the sky was thundering and lightning was streaking. Finally he reached the foal. She was squealing for help. Spirit pulled him up. Still the wind was hard. But the foal was safe. Spirit himself was almost picked up from the ground. He nieghed loudly. Then Rain whinned in terror.Spirit looked up at the sky... TWISTER!! AND IT WAS HEADING RIGHT AT THEM! The foal squealed. The mother was being swept away!! Somehow she got back on the ground. The horses were running. Spirit and the foal were trying to catch up. Then there it was! The twister right by them. Spirit and the foal nieghed. Then everything went dark...... Spirit woke up. The sky was clear. There was no more dark clouds or thunder. No lightning or rain. But worst of all. No herd! He got up. Where was the foal? He looked around knowing this was no time to play. Then he heard a rattle, he jumped back. Was it a snake? Then a little head popped up. It was the foal. Spirit took a deep breath. Twister ran by Spirit. Spirit knew it was a big job to be with a filly like this one.
