Alberto Rios Jr.
Born in Jersey City and raised in Hoboken, NJ, Alberto lived only blocks away from the home of one of his all-time favorite crooners, none other than Frank Sinatra.
But it was through art how Alberto would explore his curiosity early on. Inspired by the the spiritual icons that adorned his local Church, he would rush home from Sunday Mass and render them in great detail.
Thirty years later, Alberto is still drawing and painting many of those same images, among many others that fascinated him as a young boy.
Today, after 15 years as a successful graphic designer, Alberto is emerging as an artist with his own distinctive voice. Transforming his love of art and his passion for wild horses into very meaningful and powerful messages of freedom, hope and inner peace and beauty. Serving as the perfect metaphor, he portrays these magnificent creatures with all the grace, power and simplicity that God has bestowed upon them. And although he still cherishes his "Series 7" Watercolor brushes, his most recent artwork is done in either pencil or digitally enhanced black and white and hand-colored photos. His current series of open edition giclee prints ["Forsake Not Freedom"] reflect his belief in our God-given freedoms. The exploration of our true identities. Our internal struggle to survive.
He emphasizes that today's tech devices, much like our hands are just tools. "A physical extension of our very own inner spirit." --"Computers and modern printing technologies are great tools. Art, however, is devine and flows from within. We each express it in very different ways and by different means. I'm inspired by masters such as Andrew Wyeth, Vincent Van Gogh and Leonardo da Vinci to name a few. "-- By juxtaposing interesting images into distinctive works of art, Alberto is slowly but surely making his own mark in the world of contemporary art. More than a visual delight, Alberto's artwork is truly a blend of art and emotion unlike anything we've seen or experienced before. Striking images that sweep our mind, heart and soul away, if only for a brief moment in precious time. He is currently planning exhibitions to be held throughout Jacksonville, Florida and surrounding areas.
