A Lone Wolf Howls At An Empty Moon

You fought the battle of your life,
Through fields of fire, through pain and strife.
Though some may feel you were a pawn,
I know what lies they depended upon.

You'd be so angry, if you knew,
That there are those discrediting you.
These so-called friends would make you mad.
But as for me, I just feel sad.

I don't agree with what you did.
But since you were just a little kid,
They bulled you---you vowed to make,
Them all to pay for their mistake.

I still feel sad on this dark day.
The pain, it seems, won't go away.
You've finally found some peace, my friend
I'll mourn for you until the end.

I believe that this poem reflects my feelings adequately. Many have forgotten Tim----particularly when 9/11 eclipsed the bombing. I want it known that I believe that what he did was very wrong, but we must remember that he was a living, breathing human being who did not deserve to die such a terrible death. I like to remember the brave soldier, the kind-hearted young man who experienced the pain of unrequited love. If Timothy McVeigh is to have a legacy, it should be that he receieved the death penalty. It is so very, very wrong.
