Show Reports & Reviews
It seems appropriate to begin this page of show reports with an outstanding report of John's performance as the Lord in the first performance of Troupe 2 on November 11, 1997 in  Boise, Idaho.

Thank you Babzee for the marvelous photo you took of John in Boise!   He sure looks happy!
"LORD OF THE DANCE BRINGS AUDIENCE TO ITS FEET 5 TIMES"  This was the heading of a review given in the Idaho Statesman about opening night of Troupe 2 with John Carey as the principal dancer......John Carey did indeed give a riveting performance.  He flew through the air effortlessly and danced with power.  THE ENERGY WAS THROUGH THE ROOF!  As for the sensuality... it was definitely there in a more refined manner.  You get a rush when you watch this talent perform.  I had heard accolades about John in the past from his peers and friends.  To those of you who told me that I would be thoroughly taken by his dancing and his charming demeanor....you are right on both counts.  This is a young man that is going places, yet I feel after meeting him that when he is not dancing.... his feet will still remain firmly on the ground.  Kathleen, you've done a fine job!

A LONG CHICAGO SHOW REPORT:
John Carey is not a good dancer.  He is phenomenal!  I am still trying to pull my thoughts together on how incredible this man was last night.  I saw him several months ago and was pleased to see he was capable and charming.  Little did I know that last night he would make my head spin!  His style is so unique; his movements are so amazing, his charm leaps out at you and on top of all that - he leaps in the air as if he is weightless.  Some of his steps last  night were so quick and rapid you could not even see his feet.  He flew across the stage during the duel so fast I thought he was going to run into one of the towers and he was running backwards at the time!  During the encore as he came from the right side of the stage he suddenly burst into flight.  The way in which he has incorporated his toe stands is truly a sight to behold.  Okay, I have gushed enough about John, let me move on .......

WANG CENTER, BOSTON.....
AIR CAREY once again astounds the audience.  Everyone was buzzing after the show wondering who this amazing dancer was.  Many thought (per usual) that they would be seeing "the Riverdance guy" perform... but they certainly didn't walk away disappointed...to say the least.  The incredible thing is that this young man is not affected by his astonishing talent...while he is leaping effortlessly on stage with a presence of a matinee idol...offstage he has his feet firmly on the ground and doesn't bring attention to himself, as many have witnessed.  When you are that good....you don't have to!!!!

{{{JOHN CAREY}}} It's about time they stopped refering to him as an understudy.  He's been a *STAR* for over a year!!!

JOHN was the Lord that night and  once again was FANTASTIC.  I had 2nd row that night and right behind me were 2 young girls who in between screaming John's name were crying.  I wonder why???  I hope the hearing in my right ear comes back soon.

There are no words that can adequately describe
John's dancing and his on-stage persona!  Every move he makes on stage is MORE...his jumps are higher and he 'hangs' up there longer...his steps are faster than ever and if he chooses to qualify, he will easily blow away the current Guinness record of taps-per-second!  John's grace and fluidity of movement is awesome, he moves across the stage like a whirlwind, and his stage presence is extraordinary for such a young man....ah yes, he's drop-dead gorgeous and has a new maturity that is very sexy.  What is so endearing to everyone who sees him is that John loves to dance and that love just radiates from him!  I could go on and on.......!!

LOUISVILLE....the smoke is billowing and there he is --
JOHN CAREY, so distinctive in the back-lit haze!  He leaps onto the stage and literally flies around it, immediately capturing the audience's attention (all the way to the rafters).  The ladies next to us breathlessly ask us what his name is (and I'm sure they'll remember him).  All the Warlords were great!  This number is so hot...John was deadly and playing the crowd.  I thought I heard swooning around us and jumping all over the place......later....the rhythm begins for Planet Ireland...JOHN gets to improvise and jump to his heart's content.  The audience loves it!!
