| In late June, 2006, John and a group of his students from the Doherty Academy of Irish Dancing in the UK flew to San Diego, California, to attend that year's North American ID Championships. Highlights of the event included performances by John and former LOTD and Riverdance lead dancer Dearbhla Lennon.
