1985 Buick Regal
$1000
145,000 Miles
3.8 Liter V-6
Stock, but who cares!
This one is a great story all it's own. These pictures are the death of the Silver Bullet, it was nice at first. Intended to be a replacement for the Grand Am, I picked up an '85 Buick Regal for $1000. With 150,000 miles, it was actually in pretty decent shape for a Michigan car. It had a tiny little 3.8 liter V-6, with a 0-60 of it seemed 15 seconds, 3-speed auto tranny, and some white trash chrome wheels w/ 70 series tires (thanx again to my favorite junkyard). The funny part of this story is that I lent it to a friend to take to Ann Arbor (while I took the Grand National to Grand Rapids on business). On the way there (before Battle Creek) she managed to overheat the engine, and long story short, after she left to get help, the engine caught fire (literally)! I was back there within 2 hours, and the police already had it towed away. I talked w/ the State Police, and of COURSE they had no clue what happened, and we assumed it was stolen. again, long story short, a week later, we found it had caught fire, and been towed to our lovely friends at McDonald's towing here in Kalamazoo. I got my stuff from it, signed some papers (not the release forms), and left. A month later the Ann Arbor Collections Agency (we just love them don't we?) is banging on my mailbox demanding $400! Evidently the scam is, they pay the tow company a $100 or so, because they don't really expect the customer (me) to pay it. Then the agency gets whatever they can from us (and make a profit in the meantime). I could care less about the money, but I did decide to have some fun with the agency since they billed me for the wrong VIN, license, and car color. It was just a typo, but I had them running in circles for 6 months ;) We're all squared away now, and I had my fun, so it's all good.
Ok, this all I have left anymore, just these memories...
