Project Cosworth

Symptom: Gas drops below 1/2 tank, hesitates and runs like crap. I suspected the in-tank pump was dying. Upon removal, found TONS of rust floaties and the sock on the pump is non-existant. "Houston, I think we found the problem" Cleaned the crap outta the tank, and installed a Walbro 255 LPH high pressure pump kit for '87 Mustang. I also installed a Kirban adjustable fuel pressure regulator (came w/ free gauge!), and long fuel filter to replace the inline pump and filter. While I was at it and had the intake off and full access to the fuel rail, I bought new o-rings for the injectors since I had a small leak starting. Tip: use a dab of grease on the o-rings, they pop right on :) The car felt like it was shaking itself apart when braking, so just guessing which side, I replaced the passenger's side rotor w/ an unknown one I had laying around. Lucky guess, it's SOO much better now. I received my Cosworth wing since the last update, but adding it to the parts tab when I actually install it. I can't drive around a car that studders and hesitates w/ a Cossie wing, that's just not right!!
Set the pressure to 37 PSI, ran OK, but it seems to have lost the kick in the pants it had before. Played with it at 40, 42, and 45, no big difference. It doesn't help I have a rattle in my exhaust that sounds like knock (doah!). Suspecting I am too rich, lean, or whatever, an Air / Fuel ratio meter has been ordered. So Autometer Sport-Comp A/F ratio, and boost gauges are on their way now. I obtained a dual pod pillar gauge holder a while back, time to use it.
Carlisle is 2 weeks away. I really hope I can find the time to install an intercooler. I think I have enough pipes and stuff for the hot side to do it. I can use PVC for the cold side. It's been done before. If I can get that done, I can stick in the code named LA3-X computer as well.
