I am now forming my 7 phase project plan (Yeah, I tend to be a detailed-orientated person. With every detail I add, I think of more and more
stuff that I can do. Here are some more goodies I want to implement eventually:
I am focusing first on getting it running well mechanically before worrying about cosmetics.
With that said, here are a bunch of random ideas I've had
-I saw this idea in Detroit, and loved it. I just did not have the money on me at the time
to buy his. If you haven't seen this, try and imagine 6 Autometer gauges in dash (Speedo,
Tach, Fuel, Water Temp, Volts). It looked so simple, serious, and well, perfect. Also, adding
2-3 pillar gauges including Boost and Fuel-Air ratio, and probably Knock). For my project,
all black gauges of course. I am really liking the Cobalt series
if they can get all the ones I'd need. Otherwise, I'll settle for the Sport-Comp series.
-All black cloth interior (non '85). For some reason, I just like cloth better. The SVO seat idea may be a tricky one yet, because I am not sure if they even physically fit in a Cossie, but I still hope so!
-I saw a picture of I believe was a '92 Sapphire dashboard in
an XR, and fell in love, I have GOT to have one of them, with the associated Sierra steering
wheel.
-2.5 Liter stroker running a conservative 20 lbs spooling from a T3/T4 hybrid, through a
Volvo 760 intercooler, Greddy BOV, into a 7.5:1 lowered compression Ranger head. Spitting
out to an ATR Mustang SVO header, and out a Borla exhaust. A lot of this may be a pipe dream
still, but if I have something to chase after, I have a better chance of hitting it.
Latest progress
-The car is stuck in a barn north of town, and will be until I can haul it out in the
spring. So this is my chance to do a lot of the little bench-work kind of stuff, and gaining
more and more parts.
-Rebuilding Cossie headlights, cleaning everything up, swapping parts w/ my existing Sierra
lights, resealing them, and generally perfecting them again.
-Obtaining a shaved rear hatch, shaved doors, nearly perfect interior door panels, and all
sorts of switches and junk.
-Re-programming my empeg player. It has been on the shelf for about a year now, because I
have been too lazy to install it in my SVO. Also, I did not feel like modifying that car in
any way for just a stereo.
-Not part of the project, but also I am working on a Micro-R/C of a Sierra. Starting with a
Japanese BitChar-G, and sticking the guts into a Radio Shack Zip Zap ('cause they are so
slow), I have hacked a Sierra body on it. Pretty slick if I do say so myself.
