King Democrat and Queen Republican

How having only two political parties run our entire nation is detrimental to democracy, and how democracy in the United States today isn't what this nation's forefathers envisioned.

We as Americans have been duped for decades, thinking that the nation we live in today was the same democracy that the forefathers of this nation lived in. We have been tricked into thinking that we are the antithesis of communist states, dictatorships, or monarchies. We are told that what happens in Washington is perfectly normal democratic governing.

However, that is not the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Actually, it's pretty much just a flat-out lie. The unfortunate fact is that with the current state of government in Washington and in our local governments, the United States of America is currently nowhere near a complete democracy and it is moving farther and farther away from a true democracy each year. Do not misunderstand me, the United States is by definition a democracy under the US Constitution, but something has happened in our history that is preventing us from enjoying the fruits of a free, democratic life that our forefathers wanted us to have.

The reason is this. A free democratic existence today is unfortunately impossible because of the two political parties that have taken over Washington, slammed the doors shut, and are laughing at anyone else who might want to enter. They have hijacked our government and control literally everything that happens politically, economically and socially in this country. The United States has become a duopoly, not a democracy. By a duopoly (like the word "monopoly"), I am implying that the democrats and republicans have a monopoly over government. Let's examine the situation. Currently the presidency is in complete control by the Republican Party. In the Senate, 49 out of 50 Senators are part of the duopoly, with only one Independent. 100% of the House of Representatives is controlled by the duopoly. The overwhelming majority of state and local governments are also controlled by the duopoly, ranging from the Mayor to the State Comptroller. Though most of us are accustomed to having only two political parties in the government, allow me to warn you that having only two parties ruling the entire government is not a democracy. Instead it is more like having two kings instead of one.

With our current state of government, prominent members of these two dominant parties can make all the decisions without worry of political dissent, since no other political parties exist in Washington. Lack of any dissent has created an atmosphere of monopoly, dictation, and lack of freedom. As with the entire idea of having political parties in the first place, especially only two of them, independent thinking among party members is shunned for a more preferred authoritarian stance. For instance, if the few top guys in the Republican Party take a particular stance on a certain matter, thousands of subordinate members of the Republican Party will also loyally take on that same view, which will then trickle down into the mainstream American public who associate themselves as being republican, who number in the millions. Even though many republicans may not agree with a policy of a prominent member, they are somewhat forced to agree with the policy because it is their duty of the party to agree with their superiors. Thus decisions are made ultimately by the minority, not the majority. The majority simply follows the minority's rule like sheep. But don't just take my word for it, read what our first President, George Washington, had to say on political parties in his Farewell Address:

"In contemplating the causes which may disturb our Union, it occurs as matter of serious concern, that any ground should have been furnished for characterizing parties by Geographical discriminations--Northern and Southern--Atlantic and Western; whence designing men may endeavor to excite a belief that there is a real difference of local interests and views. [p. 12 image] One of the expedients of Party to acquire influence, within particular districts, is to misrepresent the opinions & aims of other Districts. You cannot shield yourselves too much against the jealousies & heart burnings which spring from these misrepresentations. They tend to render Alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal Affection." --George Washington, Farewell Address

"Render alien to each other those who ought to be bound together by fraternal affection"? Has this ever happened in our history? Last time I checked, it happened during the last Presidential election. The democrats and republicans were at each other's throats last year and nearly plunged the American people into complete political anarchy. Instead of showing one unifying American flag, the duopoly and the duopoly-controlled media beamed across the nation that horrible red and blue colored map of the United States, which revealed the South and Western USA as red (republican) and the Northeast and far Western USA as blue (democrat). This map made it seem as if our nation was absolutely divided, as if our nation was made up of two completely separate people - divided, with nothing in common, resentful and hateful of each other. This map of the US completely split us apart as members of the greatest nation on Earth, and even made some fellow Americans loathe each other. Suddenly the small cultural differences we have always had, say between New York and Texas, mutated into a full-fueled hate for one another. The problems between the two political parties that govern our entire nation spewed into the civilian populations, causing serious political problems in our nation. That is just one of the reasons why it is so dangerous to have only two parties ruling the entire nation. When a few top guys disagree, the next day the entire nation disagrees. When the few can influence the civilian population to the extent that we as Americans will attack our fellow brothers and sisters, that is the frightening extent to which they can control and manipulate us. And they know this. When the few can effectively misrepresent our true opinions and feelings as Americans, democracy dwindles. The duopoly nearly tore a hole right through our nation - the two parties showed their disunity, recklessness and carelessness for the United States during that election. Therefore, it looks to me as if George Washington's words are still true today.

On the other hand, suppose the two political parties do not fight amongst each other; suppose they unite under common opinion. Would that circumstance be any better than the previous? Absolutely not! In fact, it is even scarier to have the duopoly agree, than to disagree. When the duopoly, which in reality is just a few prominent members of both political parties, completely agree with each other on a particular issue, there suddenly becomes no voice of dissent on that issue in Washington. And since the duopoly controls our entire nation, it effectively sets that policy engraved in stone. It is engraved in stone since we do not have the luxury of voting the democrats/republicans out of office. And if we cannot change the policy of the duopoly nor vote the duopoly out of power, we might as well give the democrats and republicans two royal thrones and allow them to dictate anything they want to us. For instance, what is the point of impeaching a democrat when another democract will just take the former's throne? Why bother to go out and vote when you know nothing will change?

Have you ever realized that voting for a non-duopoly entity, especially during the presidential elections, is useless? We have already discussed the only way to change opinion on totalitarean duopoly-agreed policies legally is through a third political party. However, as we frequently see in elections, a third party never have a chance in hell to win the election. The most prominent reason for this injustice is campaign finance. A third party does not have fair access to the media, which is an extremely important factor for getting their ideas to the American public. By the media I mean television, radio, newspapers, magazines, popular web sites, billboards, etc. A third party candidate may not even get on the ballets, because the duopoly might say the candidate "didn't get enough votes", which obviously results from the fact that they don't get enough time in the media. Decreased time in the media results directly from the fact that if a third party candidate does not translate into millions of dollars worth of profits to big corporations, the corporations will not fund their campaign. If the corporations do not fund you, where will you get the money to run for office? The vast majority of capital in the US is in the hands of two entities: the government and the corporations/banks. If the corporations, with their immense wealth and power, wish to support a candidate with endless campaign money and support, the small time candidate (though he/she may have excellent values and opinions), will never be heard. If you don't kiss the butts of corporations, where will you get the money to compete in the election? It isn't fair!

Now if democrats and republicans get millions worth of so-called "donations" from corporations for their campaigns, they can unfairly access more time in the media to convince the American public to vote for them. By having a monopoly over airtime, it seems as if the two opinions coming from the democrats and republicans are the only opinions around, since the ordinary American hasn't heard anything else in the media. Therefore the wishes of the corporations control the US government and its policies, thus putting third party candidates out of business if they do not translate into big bucks for corporations. This is wrong. The US is supposed to be a democracy, and you shoulden't have to have a fat wallet to campaign for political office. All you should need are popular, freedom-loving, constitution-abiding political opinions. Forcing candidates to have endless pockets of money to fund their campaigns forces many would-be candidates, who may have very good democratic opinions and policies in mind, out of business. When you have to search for someone with tons of money to compete with the duopoly's campaigns, you have to satisfy someone, and that usually means doing "favors" for them while in office. This directly leads to corruption in the government. Also with the duopoly's monopoly on airtime, the duopoly can make fools out of third party candidates to quell any fears that some Americans may vote out of the duopoly range. No, Ralph Nader is not a hippie and Pat Buchanan is not a neo-Nazi. That is the opinion of the duopoly, the few, and because of the massive resources of the few to spew their lies, the "many" consent to that opinion because it is all we know. Money can shut mouths and independent minds very easily, and unfortunately, it usually does.

The democrats and republicans have this whole nation and its people wrapped around their little pinkies. Therefore, unfortunately, those who see through the lies often believe the only way to make change in government upon a duopoly-agreed policy (a totalitarian policy) is not through legal ballets as it should be, but through upheaval, protest, and sometimes even violence.

Let's talk about September 11th. Because of the duopoly's unrelenting, unconditional support of Israel and its fanatical wish to control the flow of the world's oil supplies through murderous sanctions imposed on soverign nations, we must now live as victims of terrorism. The American people are victims because of the duopoly's unrelenting wish to arm Israel to the teeth using billions of our tax dollars to steal land from a people who the land originally belonged to. Why do we support a state that just wants to use our weapons to militarily steal land from Palestinians and not even offer them their own country? The terrorists are also targeting us because of sanctions on Iraq. Now thousands of Americans are being murdered in terrorist acts, and yet the duopoly doesn't even care to change one of its questionable foreign policies to protect us. Do you know that one of the most terrifying fears a typical North Korean has is a toothache? Because they don't have the medical equipment and anasthetics (which are banned under sanctions) to perform root canals, extractions must be done while the patient is awake. I could talk about the depleted uranium in Iraq and how the majority of children there die of diarrhea because of spoiled water that Iraq cannot purify because of sanctions on water cleaning equipment and chemicals. I could go on and on about how the duopoly's foreign policy is evil and how it revolves around controlling oil flow and ending socialism. That is another article in itself. The point here is that we should not get entwined in other nations' affairs. Why are we giving billions of dollars to countries across the world when the American people badly need that money for themselves? If they want to give away foreign aid, why not give it to the world's poorest nations (obviously in food, not arms). Giving money away to foreign nations and keeping other nations from doing what they have the sovereign right to do, is bad policy!

Who are we to tell Iraq whom they can sell oil to? It is THEIR OIL! There is documented evidence that we actually stopped and confiscated oil that was being sold to Russia from Iraq. Was this transaction any of our business? No! But we still stole the oil. Sanctions are kept on Iran so that they cannot get access to equipment that will allow them to tap the tremendous oil resources of the Caspian Sea. There is documented that the Afghani Taliban barbarians wined and dined in Houston, Texas - all on the tab of big oil companies to build a pipeline from the Caspian area south through Afghanstan to the Indian Ocean. We have sanctions on Cuba, even though they are NOT aiming missles at us or doing anything else that could harm us. The Cuban people want a socialist government, so who are we to tell them not to have one? It is none of our business! The reason Cubans come here is because the duopoly's sanctions are stangling their nation to death. If immigration wants to stop illegal immigration, cancel the sanctions! And what did Yugoslavia ever do to us? Nothing! Yet we bombed the lights out of them. Don't think that we bombed Milosevic because of his atrocities, we bombed it because the greedy duopoly could not stand to see a socialist government in Europe. They want to sell their goods in Yugoslavia and obtain power around oil rich Central Asia. They want to flood all the nations in this world full of American consumer goods to make us rich. They want to control their banks, their money, their livlihoods. Starving and murdering millions of innocents on account of "restoring freedom by way of sanctions" is absolutely ridiculous.

Many older Americans have been brainwashed about how communism and socialism is evil. These forms of government are not evil at all, and by telling other nations what to do, we are taking away their freedoms. The reason the duopoly wants to rid the world of communism is not because we want to give freedom to their people, but because communism stops us from selling our consumer goods and stops us from plundering those nations' natural resources by way of transnational corporations under neo-colonialism. We have suppported many non-democratic entities before, including the Shah of Iran to Saddam Heussein to Ariel Sharon, the mass murderer. That is not opinion, that is fact. George W. Bush constantly talks about how Iraq and Iran are evil because they don't embrace democracy, but then at the same time, our barbaric, unevolved "ally" Saudi Arabia performs sickening "Sharia Law", which consist of beheadings and amputations on petty thieves. But you don't hear Bush saying how Saudi Arabia isn't a freedom-loving country, so we should keep sanctions on them. Don't be fooled - Hamid Karzai (the Unocal Oil consultant) despises freedom, and personally said he will allow the "cutting [amputation] of hands", during his Georgetown University address. Don't be fooled, sanctions on Iraq keep Saudi Arabia pumping more oil, which makes more money for them and for us. American banks control Saudi Arabia's money. Bush has very good ties with the Saudi Royal Family, and they are both loving the sanctions on Iraq. Its all about money and NOTHING about freedom. Bush wouldn't know freedom if George Washington rose from the grave and slapped him in the face with the constitution. The bottom line is that although we should not be isolationist, we have no right to tell other soverign nations what to do. This is what George Washington had to say about meddling in other nations' affairs:

"The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible."

"It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world; so far, I mean, as we are now at liberty to do it; for let me not be understood as capable of patronizing infidelity to existing engagements. I hold the maxim no less applicable to public than to private affairs, that honesty is always the best policy. I repeat it, therefore, let those engagements be observed in their genuine sense. But, in my opinion, it is unnecessary and would be unwise to extend them."

"Taking care always to keep ourselves, by suitable establishments, on a respectable defensive posture, we may safely trust to temporary alliances for extraordinary emergencies."

"Against the insidious wiles of foreign influence (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens,) the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake; since history and experience prove, that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of Republican Government. But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defence against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation, and excessive dislike of another, cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots, who may resist the intrigues of the favorite, are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests."--George Washington, Farewell Address

"They [political parties] serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels and modified by mutual interests." --George Washington, Farewell Address

Other issues also come up with the two-party system, such as the issue of amending the constitution. When only two parties nearly control the entire government, the constitution can be amended without consent of the American people, or the brainwashed - forced consent of the American people. Allow me to quote Washington once again:

"If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way, which the constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for, though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed." --George Washington, Farewell Address

Notice when George Washington talks about "usurpation". George Washington is saying that if the constitution is to be amended, the government better have the support of the American people to commit such an act. This is probably the scariest scenario, as our Constitution is the most important and sacred part of our government. Not to get off point, but surely during the time from 1910-1940, when the duopoly went all-out crazy vandalizing the constitution with Prohibition, the Income Tax Amendment (which they had to amend parts of the constitution to fit in, as our forefathers did not want an income tax), and the repeal of Prohibition. Prohibition and the Income Tax were the biggest examples of the duopoly changing the constitution by "usurpation", as was obvious because the American people were vehemently against both. If the constitution is tampered with by the few, and the few do not represent the opinion of all Americans (as what happened during prohibition in the 1920's), it is extremely difficult to repeal. Again, repeated protest, violence, destruction of unity among Americans, recessions, and many other horrendous events may occur to try to repeal it, all without any intervention by a foreign government or terrorist organization.

Let me end this article by agreeing with George Washington, that political parties only represent the few and not the majority. Political parties are simply not good for government, especially when the government is ruled only two of them. Washington said:

"This spirit [association with political parties], unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy." --George Washington, Farewell Address

The fact of the mater is that all parties should be funded equally by the federal government, politicians should not be able to make any money during their campaign or while they are in office, and absolutely no "contributions". This creates a fair playing ground for independents and all other political parties. No longer do you have to have endless pockets to have a fair shot at being an elected official, but only good opinions and policies. Everybody has a fair shot at getting their message to the American people because there is no monopoly on airtime in the media. Once the media understands that they will get the same amount of money for airing a democrats campaign commercial as a Green Party's campaign commercial, they will start to allow many parties access to airtime since its all the same to them. This also ensures that the media channels have free speech, for they can air whomever's commercials they want to air. Some say that not allowing political contributions is against free speech, which of course is not true because if I want to send money to Iraq, I obviously can't because of the sanctions. So if I cannot send money to Iraq, in the same way I will not be able to send money to a candidate for office. When you do not allow politicians to make any money while in office, you get all the corrupt politicians who just want to make a buck instead of serving the American people out of Washington. If Washington isn't profitable, the corrupt politicians will not bother to run for office, which in turn gets all the bureaucratic scum out of Washington. Therefore, the only ones in Washington will be those who genuinely love America, not their bank accounts. Buckle your seatbelts, folks - we are getting closer to a democracy! Once we have many political parties with an equal chance to win, lots of independents (like George Washington wanted), the voice of the American people will finally be heard. Having many political parties and independents will also increase political awareness among the American public and voter turnout would probably increase, since the election may actually influence public policy dramatically. You would have less violent protests in the streets because people could now make changes through the ballets instead of on the streets. Next, we should not be supporting foreign governments, as was George Washington's wish. You can never be neutral when dealing in foreign affairs, and that is why we should stay out of them. When you are allies with one nation, that nation's enemy will hate you. This is evident in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Tens of billions of dollars should not be given away to nations to protect the duopoly's interests. Freedom is the only way to go, and if a nation does not believe in freedom we should never deal with them. The oil companies and the duopoly must change their foreign policies to protect the American people. Do not forget - the government is supposed to be made up of servants to America and the American people. We are supposed to be living in a democracy. The few cannot control the masses. It is this exact policy that has destroyed empires and civilizations all throughout history, and the people who learned this lesson were the forefathers of this nation. Our forefathers understood human thinking and behavior to an utmost perfection, which makes the Constitution of the United States a timeless document. Certain words and sentences of it may be outdated, but the overall ideas and messages of every single glorious clause of the United States Constitution will always ensure freedom.

Lastly, I would just like to make a quick comment on the corporations that control our government. When I use the term "corporation", I do not mean McDonalds, Pepsi, Price Costco, Target, etc. These corporations make the United States huge sums of capital, which are needed for us to stay a prosperous nation. They employ millions of Americans, and make life very easy for us. The corporations that control our country I am talking about are mainly the oil companies. They put us at risk for terrorism and worldwide hatred so that they can make billions and sometimes trillions for themselves. Puppet regimes, colonization, price controls for other nations, etc. It is these corporations that control the duopoly and it is these corporations that hate America.

Don't let our forefathers down. If they could see the way our government is being run now, they would be devastated with disgust. We now know that democracy is literally on a thin string here after September 11, 2001. We see nightmares of human civilization every day. All over the world there are Communist states, which to list all the injustices done by the Communists would be another article entirely. We now see disgusting Islamic Sha'ria law in place, which is the barbaric law of cutting peoples' hands off, beheadings, covering women by law from head to toe, ripping teeth out of people's mouths as punishment, etc. Hamid Karzai has pledged that Sha'ria law will still be in effect in the new Afghanistan, and the "cutting of hands" will be permitted, in his speech at Georgetown University recently. We have seen anarchies in Somalia and other African nations. We have seen states like Israel, which practically put their own people and the Palestinians in virtual "cages", with restrictions on movement, enclosed Palestinian villages, checkpoints everywhere, etc. Let us all just thank whatever is up there that we live in a democracy, a free nation. Don't ever let this democracy dwindle. We know what happens when democracy ends by just looking with our eyes at what is happening in many countries across the world right now. It is terrifying. Anything other than democracy is a nightmare. Never let democracy, liberty and freedom be taken away from you, from a foreign entity or from a domestic one. Protect it at all costs. Let's end the duopoly, allow democrats and republicans to stay in office (as they are constitutionally allowed to) but also give other political parties the same advantage as they have. Bring the wishes of George Washington and the forefathers of this nation to fruition. Bring back the timeless values of democracy and complete freedom back to the United States through more political parties (with all political parties being equally powerful), more independents, and more politicians who want to serve this country instead of making a buck for themselves. God Bless America - the greatest nation on Earth.
