The positives from Microsoft far outweigh the negatives.
This argument implies that Microsoft has indeed committed wrong-doings but that these actions should be overlooked in consideration of the positive results of those activities. The ends do not justify the means, especially when the ends cannot be clarified as being the best possible outcome for all parties involved. As mentioned in our discussion of where would we be without Microsoft, there is no way of knowing how far advanced the industry would have been without Microsoft. If there is a possibility, which there is, that the industry would have been further along at present without Microsoft, then it now becomes necessary, in fact mandatory, that the company be held accountable for the wrong-doings implied by this argument.
