MR2 was under construction...

When I got my Mark I MR2, it was in a wreck condition. Its 14 years were not only showing in the form of rust, but also the damage of the front bumper. The wheel wells were brownish on rear corners, holes in the side skirt... Fortunately for me, it was affordable to fix it because I was going to do it by myself. However, I need a auto body shop to be my technical/material support. Hence, I contacted Tony at Chariot Auto Services Incorporation in Burnaby.

Raymond at Chariot Auto is the bodyman who has over 10 years experience to repair cars. Wayne is the mechanic who is the dictionary of automobiles. Tony certainly is the business man to help his friends to do a project on a budget! I can't thank them enough really. Let give you an idea about what I did:

I also did some mild custom work to the MR2: Anyway, images/pictures are the best way to explain things...

This is a shot of the driver's side rear fender have rust. The rusty inner-well lip is still visible, as is prep work on the rockers before and after the wheel well. I probably took 1" (22mm) off the fender during the repair.

Shot of the wreck damage on the car. Underneath the front bumper on the driver side was rusted...though it is hard to tell from the picture. Besides, the front wheel alignment was shift to left because the lower arm and the U-housing were bent. This entire section was removed and replaced other used parts.

This shot tells you an idea of how serious the MR2 in the event of the wreck (kidding). Actually, I considered to entirely inspect the body was still in good condition, I removed the outer skins to ensure the chassis had no rust or previous/hidden damages.

The mid-engine and rear trunk without covers. My young brother, William, was helping me to sand the rear fender... he wondered not to give me Cheer!

Another angle to see all the black trims were taken, also the rear window and the sun-roof (not shown) had been removed. The whole doors had been sanded to hell, and 'anti-rust-body-filler'ed'.

Here, the wheelwell is nearly ready to be painted. The area around the wheelwell has been fillered after welded other wheelwell came from Nissan Pathfinder. Compared to the first pic, you will see the different.

What a wonderful job!
