| Thanks to Vance who sent in this deck to be meched. Lets get started. Lately I have been playing the following deck: Starter: Ron Weasley 4 Hannah Abbott 3 Professor Quirrell 3 Griphook 2 Ginny Weasley 1 The Famous Harry Potter 1 Argus Filch 1 Madam Pomfrey 1 Professor Flitwick 1 Professor McGonagall 1 Professor Snape 4 Forbidden Corridor 1 Spider's Exodus 3 Picking on Neville 1 Dobby's Disappearance 2 Scribblifors 3 Deboning 2 Entrancing Enchantments 2 Gringott's Vault Key 2 Borrowed Wand 11 Transfiguration Lessons 11 Charms Lessons The idea behind this deck is to lock down your opponent early with Picking on Neville, etc. while getting out supporting characters and Forbidden Corridor, using Gringott's Vault Key if necessary. Then you can use your supporting characters abilities and discard them with Forbidden Corridor (only to have them returned to life again with Hannah, rinse and repeat). This is very upsetting to your opponent who is slowing running out of lessons and you are returning a recently used Pomfrey to play and healing for 12 with her for a second time. (if a character leaves play and returned to play, their ability restriction of once per a game use does not apply.) The kill normally comes from a Griphook, making your opponent discard their hand and draw that many cards. (since they couldn't cast anything with F.C. eating their lessons this should be quiet a few cards)It is very fun to play, but sometimes it stalls....especially against very fast decks.Any Thoughts? This deck looks promising, but I want to make something very clear before I mech this deck. You are right that if a character leaves play and comes back again you can reuse its once-per-game ability, but there are NO cards in this game which can retrieve Madam Pomfrey or any other HEALING character from your discard pile to your hand or back to your deck. The only card which can bring a healing card back from your discard pile is Ollivanders which can bring only items. OK, I'm done ranting so on with the meching. Lets start with yourstarting character. Ron is the perfect starter for almost any character deck. So we definetly keep him. From your description you really seem to love Hannah Abbott, but now that you know Madam Pomfrey can not return from the discard pile lets lose one Hannah for another Pomfrey. As I was playing the deck I noticed that when I got out Ginny she kept my hand size up constantly, so I could never use Harry's ability. Drop Harry for another Ginny. With this many Ginnys in your deck you should not have any trouble getting cards into your hand, so I'm going to take out your Entrancing Enchantments to make room for more characters. Add one more Pomfrey and Griphook. Snape, McGonnogal, and Flitwick each have a good ability and provide lessons for your deck in case you are short on lessons. Filch is great against any deck with adventures. Be careful with Quirrel; he can return your wands to your hand so you might not be able to play your bigger spells. Speaking of spells lets look at yours. The Vault Key is a great card, but since you have so many characters you might also consider The Sorting Hat instead, but I will leave the Key. Since you are using Griphook, you will want them to have a big hand when you use his ability. Dobby's Dissappearence is great for this, but Scriblifors also discards an additional card from play. So I'm yanking DD for Scriblifors. Deboning is great just after you Griphook so I'm keeping them. Spiders Exodus is a great card for Griphook, but what if they are not playing creatures? It would sit in your hand doing nothing. Lets yank it for one last Scribblifors. One last word of caution: This deck will totally die if your opponent is playing a deck with no lessons since your corridor will die so fast. Also you need to be cautious around low cost, fast decks since they can afford to lose their lessons to get rid of corridor and then build up within two turns. This type of deck can rarely compete if the fast deck is good. Here is the finished deck: Starter Ron Weasley Characters 3 Hannah Abbott 3 Professor Quirinus Quirrell 4 Griphook 3 Ginny Weasley 1 Argus Filch 3 Madam Pomfrey 1 Professor Filius Flitwick 1 Prof. Minerva McGonagall 1 Professor Severus Snape Spells 3 Picking on Neville 4 Scribblifors 3 Deboning 2 Gringotts Vault Key Items 2 Borrowed Wand Locations 4 Forbidden Corridor Lessons 11 Transfiguration 11 Charms I hope I've given you some good ideas and good luck you you. |

| I could not decide whether to mech the deck the way I have it to the left or in this way, so I am putting them both here. Starter Ron Weasley Characters 3 Hannah Abbott 3 Professor Quirinus Quirrell 4 Griphook 3 Ginny Weasley 1 Argus Filch 3 Madam Pomfrey 1 Professor Filius Flitwick 1 Prof. Minerva McGonagall 1 Professor Severus Snape Spells 3 Picking on Neville 4 Scribblifors 3 Deboning 4 Impersonating Goyle Locations 4 Forbidden Corridor Lessons 11 Transfiguration 11 Potions This is very similar to that on the left except the charms are changed to Potions and Vault Key and borrowed wand are changed to Impersonating Goyle. With this card you can remove your opponents characters if they have any or you can remove one of your own used up ones. As a bonus you search your deck and put a character into your hand. If you find you need to search for Forbidden corridor a lot, use the one to the left, but I think Ginny will keep enough in your hand that you will not need to very often. Good Luck! |
