Amazing Race Tidbits
CBS' The Amazing Race 13th Edition
Terence drove 117 km/hr in a 100 zone and was ticketed for speeding on the way to Auckland. Penalty ahead! All teams took the same very long flight, 5600 miles, from Auckland, New Zealand to the resort town of Siem Reap, Cambodia. Ken and Tina were irked that all their advantage is lost when all but the last place team join them in Singapore, while Andrew and Dan were relieved that they were not in a race for last place. Aja and Ty were so late starting, 9 hours after the leaders, that they ae on the third flight out of New Zealand and on the last flight into Cambodia. The other teams realized that the Race restarted with finding taxis after landing. Another mad dash Benefitting from the remix are Nick and Starr. Starr is OK after mashing her arm driving the blokart in the Detour in the previous episode.
Teams were instructed to take taxis to a gas station that also has a section for trucks. The description of how to fuel the trucks included turning a valve to let the diesel fuel drain after hand pumping the fuel up into a smaller 5 gallon tank. Andrew and Dan get it only after all teams except Aja and Ty leave. They finish just as Aja and Ty arrive.
Terence and Sarah have trouble with their boat just as they get within sight of Kho Andeth. Terence actually used a stick to push the boat very slowly to the cluebox location, but had to wait for the motor to dry out.
Village Work: From the website: Teams had to take their boat to a fishing ground, wade into waist deep water, and search among numerous fishing traps for two filled with fish. Then they had to deliver the fish back to the dock and transfer the fish into baskets to receive their next clue.
The trick was that the traps were not all full, meaning that they would have to untie more than two traps to get the two full ones.
Village Life: From the website: Teams used their boats to pick up three items: a set of toy teeth from the dentist; a doll from the tailor; and a basketball from the floating basketball court where each team member had to make one basket. Then they had to deliver the items to a man at the dock for their next clue.
The only hard part might have been making a basket on a floating basketball court.

Teams are instructed to go to Ankor Wat and locate the cluebox outdie the temple.
Teaser question: Who has a better sense of direction?
From the website: One team member had to search the immense grounds of Angkor Wat for a small elusive room named Prassat Kok Troung, also known as the Chamber of Echoes. Once there, they had to stand on a specific spot and thump their chest in such a way as to make the sound echo throughout the chamber, at which point teams could pick up their next clue.
The key was to convince a worshipper to take them to the chamber. It was located off a long corridor, and up a high flight of steps from the outside. The clue was like those square tablets commonly seen on Survivor.

Teams are told to finding Phil by searching the grounds of the Bayon temple complex a short distance from Angkor Wat. Terence and Sarah have a 30-minute penalty coming. Each of the renaiming teams has a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses. Some Racers are not as physically fit as others, and it shows already. Others have quite a bit of intelligence, while others are creative. Actually, all six teams are quite good. On any given Sunday...
The weakest teams are Kelly and Christy and Andrew and Dan. Both are similar in their weaknesses. Kelly and Christy skip over parts of clues, or do not understand them. Andrew and Dan have trouble making sense out of the clues or the tasks themselves. The other four teams are quite strong, easily capable of winning this edition of the Amazing Race. These teams are among the strongest last six teams in the two-member format. The last place team in Episode 6 could catch a break if this is the first non-elimination leg--it is ordinarily due now.
Watch Episode Six on November 2nd, at 8:00 PM Eastern/Pacific, unless delayed by NFL football.
