Frederick Chapter, Order of DeMolay, sponsored by Enoch Royal Arch Chapter No. 23, was instituted on July 20, 1923, with fifty-one members.  The degrees were conferred on the Charter Class by the officers of Hagerstown Chapter, the Chapter being formally instituted by Warren S. Seipp, Active Member of the Grand Council in Maryland.  The first officers were seclected by the Advisory Council.
They were:  Melvin M. Engle, Master Councilor;  Thomas J. Schaeffer, Senior Councilor:
George T. Cramer, Junior Councilor;  and Lioyd B. Winebrener, Scribe.

Today Frederick Chapter continues in the tradition of serving the Frederick community.  It is active in helping good young men become better, so that when they become adults they will be able to assume the roles of leadership which are vital to the needs of our comunity.
