Offspring - WhatUWant Top Seven

No thanks to roVer (but that's another story), I discovered Channel [V] were basing their daily "WhatUWant Top 7@7" on The Offspring today. Today being Tuesday.

Luckily I caught it at #6, which was "Hit That". Duh, duh, DUN DUN DUN. The video uses some sort of special thing that makes the people all box-shaped. The video clip is about a dog who chews through a cable causing a blackout, and has a lot of puppies. Not my favourite Offspring video, but it's still pretty cool and ends with the dog getting neutered.

#5 was "Come Out and Play", from Offspring's older album Smash. I've seen this one a few times, and it's still pretty cool. "You gotta keep em separated!" Dexter has dreadlocks and there's a snake-charmer in this video who looks like Dev (an Indian guy, look out for him in "Guest Stars").

"She's Got Issues" was fourth, and this is the first time ever I've seen this video played EVER. And I've had three music channels for a year or two, and before that I watched Rage and Video Hits a lot. This is probably the first time any channel has played this video. But anyway, it's about this chick who keeps imagining cartoons or something. Pretty weird, but it's the first time I've ever seen this video on TV (the Conspiracy of One CD has the four Americana videos on it so it isn't the first time I've seen the video).

"The Kids Aren't Alright" came in at number three, and unlike the other Americana video in the top seven I've seen this one a few times before. Probably less than ten times (excluding that CD), but that's more than zero. The video itself is pretty boring, but it was made that way so that you could concentrate on the lyrics, as this is one of Offspring's more serious songs. (Some of Offspring's less serious lyrics are "Fat parents they have fat kids too" and "Turned out that candy bar was a doggy doo".)

#2 was a video I haven't seen before in my life, because it's The Offspring's new song. It has The Offspring, complete with new drummer, playing in a funny round room with weird black shapes on the walls. Or something. I think every corner has a camera or something, because the camerawork in this video is very jerky. Oh yeah, I should probably tell you the name of the song. It's "Can't Get My Head Around You". :P

And coming in at number one...

This was a nice relief, I thought it'd be Pretty Fly For a White Guy or Original Prankster. They're good songs, but the videos are played far too often (considering I've only seen "She's Got Issues" on TV once in my whole damn life!) plus they can get boring. Number one was "Self Esteem", from the same album as "Come Out and Play" (the best Offspring songs come from that album). Self Esteem starts out with what sounds like a retard singing "Lalalalala" which sounds pretty cool, and there's sections of the video where Dexter (the lead singer) turns into a skeleton. The guitarist also looks weird. The song has lyrics along the lines of "When she's saying that she wants only me, Then I wonder why she sleeps with my friends".

Update: Stupid roVer, it's a day late and the stupid thing hasn't sent me an email telling me about that top seven yet. Shows how slow it is :@
