| Me and a couple of friends went to Estonia 7th-15th of July 2001 to participate in the Estonian Bugi. The trip started out with a ferry ride from Stockholm to Tallin. We had a great party night on the way over.. The next morning we realized that wed lost Magnus! We left the ferry and sat outside waiting for him. 45 Minutes later magnus showed up.... Hed been locked up all night in a cell for being to drunk the night before! When we got to the bugi the sky was blue and it was about 30 degrees celsius and no wind... Perfect skydiving weather... Up we went (all but Magnus who went to bed), the Let 410 took 14 minutes to 4000 meters wich was a bit faster than we are used to, having an AN2 (35 minutes to 3500 meters). We had a good deal of great jumps and the weather was perfect. At night we found out that we where staying in an old school... Great! But the school was designed as a fort and was realy nice! The fact that you got to beers for a dollar helped out!!! The first days passed and everything was perfect. After a couple of days more people showed up... And this is where the bugi got bad! The first days we where about 100 skydivers at the DZ and the Estonians could handle that. But when the number of jumpers passed 200 they totaly lost it... There was about 2-3 hours berween the jumps and the spotting was terrible. Sometimes people had to walk for 45 minutes to get back to the DZ. They didnt keep count of the canopies in the air so if someone had frapped (god forbidd) they wouldnt even know... When I pulled my reserve they didnt know untill I landed and asked if someone did see where my main canopy landed. The freebag and poptop where never to be found again....($275) Well part from that it was cool to jump Let 410, AN 28 and MI-8T some people eaven jumped the AN 72 (Jet)... We left Estonia 2 days earlier than planed and went to The Swedish Freefly Festival in southern Sweden... |
