Gaia
Well, I'm pleased that someone is interested in my ideas and my look at life and Earth. Let me first give a short explanation what's Gaia: Gaia is... well... Imagine the whole Earth as one living being, with you making a small but still important part of it. Everything even Rocks are a piece of this being and this being... is Gaia. Everybody of us makes part of Gaia and Gaia makes part of us all. Maybe, it's because of this view on the world that I'm so tolerant. Dr. James Lovelock gave me the idea, because Gaia is one of his theories and I just thaught about it and tried to find what this means for us. In his book: "The Ages of Gaia" he says that he didn't want to create a sort of new-age God and I think he's right. Well, my look at the whole thing may seem to be exactly this, but it isn't. I just think that our Organisme has to be protected.
Now let me explain what I think about Gaia. Gaia is Earth with all its inhabitants and should be treatened as such. By hurting anybody else, we hurt Gaia, and with her we hurt ourselves. An example: In your body, there's a cell which tries to destroy other cells. Now what will your Organisme do? He'll try to eliminate the wrongworking Cell. If we look on Gaia, you are not more than a single Cell. Naturally Gaia won't kill you as you could think now. A Cell simply does not live long enough to be dangerous and usually there are other Cells who will try to delete the defect Cell.
Now, what has Nature and God to do with all this? Well, Nature is the only place where Gaia can act in the way she wishes, there are no Cells(humans) who think they're better than others(Flora&Fauna). God is the supreme entity. He reigns over Gaia and so over us. Maybe Gaia makes a part of God, in the same way as we make part of Gaia?
I hope my explanation is more or less understandable and doesn't seem too mad. Some people won't accept this because... well, I don't know why. Maybe you can tell me? For more about Lovelock's Gaia, here are a few Links and naturally you'd read "The Ages of Gaia":
