Purchased in 1976 for $500.00. The original owner was Douglas Oil Co. of Providence R.I.. I spent 4 years working on the van. Modifications included a 1965 289 HiPo, C-4 auotmatic, 9" rear axle with 12"x 2 3/4" brakes, front disc brakes and a custom interior. This was the first vehicle I ever painted. I sprayed it Ford Medium Red Metallic lacquer with clear. It won several Best of Show and Best Interior awards in the upstate New York area in the early 1980's. Unfortunately the truck was severely damaged in a collision in 1985. I sold it to a friend who had it repaired and drove it as a daily driver for 13 more years. In 1998 it was finally beyond the point of repair and we salvaged what we could from it. Most of the driveline survived as did the rear quarters and are now part of Bob Gebler's 1965 Econoline van. |
