Guide to Glueing

Note the following:
When using modem synthetic (plastic) adhesives some important details must be observed.
  1. Select the best adhesive for the material and the purpose. Do not use one adhesive for all purposes.
  2. Follow all instructions on the packet or container.
  3. Clean and dry all surfaces to be glued.
  4. The larger the surfaces to be glued together, the stronger the joint will be.
  5. With many modem glues, setting times will be affected by the temperature. On cold days or in a cold room setting times will be increased.
Some plastics cannot be glued.
Polythene, polypropylene and nylon cannot usually be glued. Polythene and polypropylene can be jointed by
heat welding. Nylon requires physical joining - screws, rivets, locking devices etc.
