BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT FRIENDLY PLASTIC Friendly Plastic is a non-toxic, biodegradable plastic that's hard and durable, but when heated, it softens and can be formed into any shape or design.
HOW DO I USE THE WATER METHOD? Heat the water in a pan on your hob until the temperature reaches 140ºF (60ºC). Test the temperature of the water with a cooking thermometer. To keep the water at this temperature use the small simmer ring on your hob. Add one or two small drops of cooking oil to prevent sticking.
Place one plastic strip at a time into the bot water (metallic side down) for about 30 seconds. Take it out with a palette knife or instrument with a point that you can attach to the plastic. The softened plastic can then be shaped into any form or design.
HOW DO I USE THE OVEN METHOD? Preheat your oven to 200ºF (94ºC). Very lightly oil a piece of aluminium foil and place on a baking tray. Cut the plastic strips into desired shapes. Place the plastic in the desired pattern on the baking tray and soften for a few minutes. The plastic will melt together and become inlaid. The longer that you leave it in the oven the more inlaid and flat the design will become. The effect is rather like enamelling.
DO I USE GLUE WITH FRIENDLY PLASTIC? The plastic sticks to itself so you only need to use glue when adding jewellery findings or crystal stones or any other decorations or materials. We recommend the use of an all purpose clear adhesive (UHU, Bostik, HMG etc.)
WHAT CAN I MAKE WITH FRIENDLY PLASTIC? The possibilities are endless. Use Friendly Plastic to make hair decorations, shoe bows, buttons, fridge magnets, napkin rings etc.
HOW CAN I DECORATE MY CREATIONS? As well as using jewellery findings and crystal stones you can use acrylic paint, model paint, permanent ink markers and enamel paint. Try using glitter, feathers, lace or sequins.
HOW MANY COLOURS ARE AVAILABLE? There are currently twenty four fashion colours, Green/Blue, Purple, fuchsia, Gold, Red, Silver, Stripe, Royal, Blue, Gold Speckled, Mother of Pearl, Black, Mauve, floral Yellow, Copper, Indian Red, Mother of Pearl/Peach, Swirl, Floral Blue, Colourburst, Green/Blue Print, Burnt Orange, Gold/Black Stripe, Confetti, Turq/Blue Print.
GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION
Friendly Plastic will stick to nail varnish and acrylic nails. It will also stick to certain other plastics for example polystyrene. If it sticks to fingernails place in cold water and it will come off.
If exposed to direct sunlight Friendly Plastic may soften. It softens at approximately 100ºF (38ºC)
Friendly Plastic is not a toy and is not suitable for children under the age of 14 years. This is due to the hot water involved in using this product and not the product itself.
