"Explication" is the practice of explaining something by expanding or elaborating on it. I often find myself explicating by expanding or elaborating on a brief comment I've made to someone, or a thought I've had, or a situation I've found myself in. Usually this involves a whiteboard with boxes and arrows and illegible labels; often it involves waving my arms around and talking in funny voices.

Given what I do for a living, I'm well aware that the technology exists to present, right here on this webpage, a whiteboard with boxes and arrows and illegible labels, or streaming video of me waving my arms around and talking in funny voices. Aren't you glad I've chosen not to?
