Landlord from HELL! ! !
or just another bad landlord?
Why I'm putting this information out there:
Basical I'm just tired of getting screwed over by incompetent, unethical and cheap Landlords who are in the business for the bucks and to hell with their customers/tenants

That and the fact that I believe that businesses, no matter how big or how small, need to be held accountable for thier actions and that it is a genuine and beneficial public service to shine the spotlight of public scrutiny on them when they try and screw us.

This is an attempt to utilize the power of the internet to provide a cautionary service to warn current and future tenants and/or prospective property buyers about this particular landlord and my experiences with her and her property.

Why this particular landlord?
Well, timing mostly. I've had fair and competent landlords and others that make Barbara look like a teddybear. She's just the latest one in line, the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak. Her lack of concern with her tenants welfare and her short sighted, "let the next owner take care of it" approach to maintenance are attitudes that are all too often found in the housing business and are the number one reason why landlords are so universally held in contempt. Her "me first and screw you" attitude is, sadly, all too common and hurts both landlords, tenants and all others in the housing provider arena.
I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Going To Take It Anymore!
What did she do that got me so pissed off?
Well the event that actually prompted me to action was her improper withholding of my damage deposit. Not just because she failed to meet the Ohio law requirements for proper notification by failing to either return our money or provide reasons for witholding it within 30 days of our vacating the apartment  but because her "justifications" for keeping our money are, when she finally got around to it, well, frankly they're just so much manufactured bullshit. She actually has the gall to accuse us of causing the toxic mold problem in the first floor apartment. (Her letter to us will be posted later)

For several years my wife and I put up with
poor service and deferred maintenance from her which led to our furnace being red tagged, birds dying in the walls, flooding of the basement and toxic mold having to be removed from the apartment below us. (The tenants who lived there at the time told us that they were forced to file suit to recoup thier losses, both in property that had been contaminated as well as other costs incurred due to the mold.)

Her unwillingness to put any money into the property beyond cosmetics when she finally decided to put it on the market (at an outrageously inflated price) led to windows that might as well not have been there, a washing machine with hoses so
old and cracked that they burst  and an air conditioner improperly sealed and leaking water from the coils for what must have been years. The real source of the mold, in my opinion.
