This year's Michelob Race had a slow start and a wet ending. We postponed the starting time 15 minutes because of no wind. Finally we decided to give it a try and the wind filled in beautifully out of the northeast so that the cruising boats had a wonderful sail down the river to Mosquito Lagoon.
Soon after the boats performed that intricate maneuver, known affectionately as the U'eee, the black clouds moved in and most of us got very wet by the time we got back to SYC. Many thanks to Fulton Cooke and the Kittiwake for serving as committee boat.
Trophies to the winners were presented at the OMS banquet on Thursday, November 13th. --- John Crampton |
