This page is a practice in using web editors.

After studying and reviewing each of these sites and trying some of the tips they offer, I returned to http://www.geocities.com and selected that web editor as it is easier for beginners to use.
Engagement:
The evidence of engagement in this assignment is found on this page; using the web editor to add or substract color for both the background and for the text, and for connecting the links to the web sites I used as references and tips for writing html. However, the engagement is also found in the changing of text sizes from the title to the other text. Practicing with this tool was interesting, yet a little frustrating. I found that using the web editing tools was not too difficult. However, I did find that writing html is difficult overall because it is so easy to make mistakes. One misplaced set of brackets can really mess up the finished look of the page. Also, connecting links is difficult when you are a beginner. Writing the exact "formula" for links can certainly try one's patience.
Reflection:
The ability to use an html editor, such as the one found at geocities, is a skill that will provide help when developing web pages. I believe the ability to use a web editor will be invaluable as I expand the use of technology into my classroom teaching. For example, a web editor can be used to develop a web page that contains assignments, grades, and instructions/directions for students and parents to access from home. Of course web editors are more difficult to use but they are an option that is available. Web editors are also useful if a person should decide to develop a web page or two for fun.
Furthermore, I believe that using a web editor opens a new avenue in which high school students can engage in meaningful learning while developing new skills that will help them throughout their life. Students who learn how to use a web editor could design a web page in which they demonstrate their knowledge of a topic for any given class. For example, a student could design a web page that illustrates their knowledge of a novel that was read recently. The author, themes, plot, etc., could all be included in the page and could become a final exam for the class at the end of a semester.
