An Interview With Mike Beardsley An Interview With Mike Beardsley

Freaks and Geeks Web: Thanks for taking time out for an interview Mike.

Mike Beardsley: No problem...I'm not too busy these days.

Freaks and Geeks Web: I'm sorry to hear that. So can I start out by asking, how did you become aware of Freaks and Geeks?

Mike Beardsley: Well, I actually heard about it when they were casting it, but all I knew about it at that point was the name... I thought the name was cool....then, several months later, I had the pleasure of working on Freaks and Geeks, that would have been the 4th episode, Kim Kelly is My Friend. That was still before the first episode of the show aired. I still didn't know much about it, but I discoverd it was a cool show during the 3 days I worked on that episode.

Freaks and Geeks Web: Interesting. So was working on Freaks and Geeks one of the highlights of your career?

Mike Beardsley: It's one of the two things I've been recognized for. Dude, Where's My Car is the other and for months it was pretty much all I did. 46 Days in all.

Freaks and Geeks Web: So what was it like to work with the talented cast on Freaks?

Mike Beardsley: I worked with them peripherilly for the most part (not much interaction), it it was great. It's funny to look back on the first days, before I knew anyone. I was standing next to Linda and had no idea she was even a main part in the show, much less the star.

Freaks and Geeks Web: Interesting. What were your feelings about the cancellation by NBC and pickup by Fox Family?

Mike Beardsley: Well, the cancelation was devistating, the pick-up was a small concelation... but the real tragity was that there would be no more episodes. I am glad the episodes are still being shown, but that really didn't make me feel better at the time.

Freaks and Geeks Web: Any closing Comments?

Mike Beardsley: Well, only that it was a great show and I hope to be involved with another show like it someday. I've worked on many shows for a day or two, and had a lot of fun on some of them, but it's extra special when it's a quality show.

Freaks and Geeks Web: Thanks Mike. Best of Luck to you.

Mike Beardsley: Thanks 1
