FACTS:

* "THE LAWNMOWER MAN" was technically a story by King, but the makers of the film
made a film completely different from King's story and ripped off his title. King later sued them.

* When Stanly Kubrick set out to film "THE SHINING", we allowed for King to write the script. However, Kubrick
didn't like it, threw it out and wrote/filmed his OWN.
Years later, King bought back the rights to the film from Kubrick and then made HIS own
version for television.

* King was the first to write a script for the film "POLTERGIEST", but Spielberg felt it was
too gruesome, so Spielberg wrote his own.

* King and his wife, Tabitha, were very poor, living in a small trailor before he made it big.
One day, Tabitha found a manuscript in the garbage. She pulled it out and read it.
She then insisted that Stephen give it to his agent.
That book ended up being
CARRIE.
The rest is history.

* King was the original choice to write the remake of "THE HAUNTING".
Things changed and he was no longer a part of it.
So instead, he wrote his own version which later premiered on TV as

"ROSE RED"
.

* If you ever get a chance, read his novella titled
THE MIST.
The film version of it has been in development hell in Hollywood for a decade.

* Back when his kids were younger, his daughter asked him to write a book for children.
The result,
EYES OF THE DRAGON.
