| With 2 more Spider-man games in the works (one on PSX and one on PS2) I figured I should review the origional. I know what a lot of you say, Superhero games are totally lame. Not this one! It breaks a 3 year tradition of crappy superhero based games. It is the main reason I bought a PS1. Lets start with the plot, in a spidey frame-up Doc Ock and Carnage are trying to give the entire world symbiotes. This game features several Superhero battles with classic Spidey bad guys like Venom, Scorpion, and Rhino. With a cameo by "The Lizard". You don't get to fight him but you see him at least. Control for the game is really good. It takes full advantage of the playstation's multiple buttons. It features both D-Pad and Analog control for purists of both methods. It features 4 modes of play. Hard, Medium, Easy, and for those who find easy too hard there's Kid mode. For those of you who like to unlock goodies you can unlock all sorts of funky Spidey costumes. Which includes his black costume which features unlimited webbing, his Scarlet Spider costume which has no real special features other than being the best looking one, and several others. Not only that there are codes you can enter in to change the appearence of the game sprites. So in conclusion This is a great game. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the playstation empire. Just because it's a great game. Not because it's comic based. |
