| Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro, Rated E for Everyone Have you ever wanted to do what a spider can? Have you ever wanted to take a stand for Justice? Have you ever wanted to swing through a city like a modern day Tarzan? Have you ever wanted to wear skintight spandex and not get made fun of? Well Spider-Man can, and so can you in Spideys latest video game outing for the PS1, Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro. This game is a fantastic sequel worthy of following its critically acclaimed predecessor Spider-Man, which is arguably the greatest superhero game ever. The game operates similar to Spider-Man 1, except with a few new moves and some new spider-gadgets. This time youll attempt to stop Electro from his latest scheme. He has stolen the Bio-Nexus device, which, in his hands, can make him a god. Some members of the Spider-Man rogue gallery back up Electro. Bad Guys like The Shocker, The Sandman, Hammerhead, and The Lizard. Looks like our arachnid bitten hero has his hands full this time. What made the first Spider-man so great was that you didnt have to be a hardcore comic fan to enjoy it. It was a perfect blend of rock-em sock-em action with neurotic humor that could make any person crack a smile. Im pleased that its more of the same this time. The creators of Spider-man 1 knew what worked and put more of that good stuff into Spider-man 2 while adding some new twists. Things such as the X-Men as a supporting cast, and several challenges including villains that you have to use your wits more than your fists to beat. The ability to put Spider-Man into other costumes has made a come back this time with more suits to unlock, and a special mode that allows you to equip any suit with any feature. This means that you can make any of Spider-Mans costumes invulnerable, or have unlimited webbing(webbing being Spideys primary weapon), or any of the other features. This game has two new webbing types. The stun webbing which can allow you to shock your enemies to submission, or the freeze webbing which can leave your enemies cold. This game features the narration return of Stan the man Lee, the witty creator of Marvel Comics. Finding flaws in a game this good is hard, however because I really love my job I found a few for you. There is a bad guy, The Beetle, that is in cut-scenes but you dont get to fight him. This is a real disappointment because it could have made the game a level or two longer to program in some ways to fight this bad guy. Some levels of the game absolutely require that you have total mastery of the new moves, which can make things a little more challenging than they need be and frustrating for those who are unfamiliar with Spider-Man 1. However lovers of the first game will take these portions with a grain of salt. There are power-up items in this game that are hard to find that were easily found in Spider-man 1, such as the Spider-Man Armor. The flame webbing featured in Spider-Man 1 does not make a return in this game, which would be a good addition to Spideys arsenal. The Spider-Man Sequel is worth buying. I usually let my last paragraph lead to the point of whether or not the game is worth money. Im going to cut that bull (insert swear of your choice here) out and just say its worth the money. Its a terrific game with so many good points that I couldnt possibly squeeze them all in here. In short, BUY THIS GAME. See my reviews on the web at: http:www.geocities.com/freakazoid_x Back |
