For every ten group members, one teacher/ group leader will be admitted free of charge.� Coach drivers are also free of charge.
Payment can be made on the day of your visit either by cash, credit card or cheque.� If you wish, we can invoice your organisation after your visit, providing you bring a voucher or letterhead with you.
Photography / recording is not allowed in The Beatles Story Exhibition as many of the features are protected by copyright, we ask that you honour this regulation by not using any photographic / recording equipment during your visit.
To fully appreciate the Exhibition and the well stocked souvenir shop, we suggest when planning a schedule you allocate one and a half hours to The Beatles Story.
The exhibition is fully accessible for wheelchairs, with a disabled lift at the entrance and ramps throughout.
The Beatles Story is open seven days a week.� During the Spring/Summer opening hours are 10.00am to 6.00pm with last admission one hour before closing.� From November to March it is 10.00am to 5.00pm last admission� at 4pm.� We are closed Christmas day and Boxing Day.
There is a free car and coach park in the Albert Dock.� There are also plenty of cafes restaurants and bars.
We suggest when bringing large parties, that a group of 40-50 can go through every 10 minutes.

THE BEATLES STORY
The 1950's were a period of great change and excitement for Britain,� It's youth and music particularly on Merseyside.� Liverpool, the birthplace of all four Beatles, was especially influenced due to it's links with America and other countries as a busy port of trade.� Young sailors came and went bringing with them Rock & Roll records.
In 1957 Paul McCartney and John Lennon, who were already involved in the music scene individually, met at a church fete and formed the embryo of The Beatles.� George Harrison joined the band shortly, followed by Pete Best - their original drummer, and began performing regularly in local clubs as The Quarrymen, they changed their name quite often before deciding on The Beatles
They gained much experience whilst playing in Hamburg, Germany and In November 1961, playing at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, the Beatles were spotted by Brian Epstien.� The following year he had secured a record contract for them and Beatlemania was about to begin.
Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best and the Beatles made their first singe 'Love Me Do' which reached No 17 in the charts.� Their second single 'Please Please Me' was the first of many to reach the top of the charts.
Beatlemania reached America in 1964, 73 million viewers saw the Band on the Ed Sullivan show.
Following this The Beatles made their first film - A Hard Days Night, before embarking on world tour encompassing Australia and the Far East and again America.� Eventually hysterical fans made live performances simply impossible.� They performed their last concert, held in Candlestick Park, San Francisco on 29th August 1966.
The psychedelic period followed - flower Power, hippies, drugs , The Maharishi and Indian music. After the death of Brian Epstien, The Beatles formed their own company, they called it Apple.� In 1969 The Beatles made their last live appearance on the roof of Apples' Saville Row building.
Financial problems for Apple followed, and disagreements within the band.� Meanwhile two members married: Paul to Linda Eastman and John to Yoko Ono.
In 1970 Paul filed a suit against John, George, Ringo and Apple to dissolve the group and they went their separate ways.� The Beatles were finally dissolved in 1975.
Sadly on the 8th December 1980, John was murdered in New York, by a crazed fan Mark Chapman, putting an end to the hope of millions of fans that The Beatles might reunite.
Today The Beatles are a world-wide legend and their music will always be remembered and loved.

The Beatles Story is compiled of 18 separate sections telling the story of The Beatles. From what Liverpool was like in the early years right through their careers to their split in 1969,� the story is told through graphic boards, models, displays, replicas (including the Cavern & Yellow Submarine) and memorabilia.

A breakdown of the 18 sections of The Beatles Story follows:
1� Liverpool, England:-
Liverpool is the birthplace of 'The Beatles'.� This historic seaport city lies on the banks of the river Mersey which gave its name to 'Mersey Beat': the sound of the sixties.
2� Musical� Influences:-
In the 1950's Rock 'n' Roll music from the USA won the imagination of British teenagers including John, Paul, George and Richard (Ringo).
3� Hamburg� Germany 1960:-
The St Pauli district became a regular venue for The Beatles between 1960 - 1963.
4� Mersey Beat Office:-
Bill Harry's 'Mersey Beat' newspaper was launched in 1961 and became an instant success with the Liverpool club scene.
5� Hessy's Music Shop. Liverpool:-
Frank Hessy's music shop in Stanley Street, Liverpool was the 'in' place for budding musicians, including The Beatles, to purchase their musical instruments.
6� Mathew Street, Liverpool:-
Take a walk down this once unimportant back street, which became world famous as the home of 'The Cavern Club' where The Beatles performed 292 times.
7 The Cavern Club:-
The original Cavern Club opened in 1957 and closed in 1971.
In 1995 this actual set was used in the making of The Beatles video 'Free as a Bird' in� which original Beatles' footage was superimposed onto this stage.
8� NEMS, Domestic Electrical Appliance Store.� Liverpool:-
This store was owned by the Epstein family and housed the famous record department.� In 1961 Brian Epstein became the manager of a local group known as The Beatles.
9� Abbey Road, St Johns Wood, London:-
This famous photograph showing The Beatles walking across the pedestrian crossing was taken outside E.M.I 's studio in London.
10� Abbey Road Studio:-
Between 1962 and 1969 The Beatles recorded� most of� their material� in this studio under the direction of� their producer� George Martin.
11� Beatlemania!

12� In February 1964 The Beatles arrived in The USA.
On the 7th February The Beatles arrived in the USA to start a concert tour.� Their first US television appearance, on The Ed Sullivan Show, was seen by 75 million viewers.

15 Apple Corps Ltd:-
In 1968 The Beatles formed their own company which they called Apple Corps.
Without Brian Epstein's guidance the group started to lose direction as they introduced their individual management teams, leading to mistrust and eventual break-up.
16� The Solo Years:-
This area highlights the individual careers of John, Paul, George and Ringo.� In the years that followed the break-up their talents continued to flourish, through music, films and television.
17� Reunion of The Beatles:-
On the 8th of December 1980 the tragic death of John Lennon ended hopes of a� Beatles reunion but in 1995 Paul, George and Ringo came together and, using a track pre-recorded by John, produced a new single 'Free as a Bird' featuring all four Beatles.
'Free as a Bird' was included in the long awaited 'Beatles Anthology' which celebrated their musical reunion and refound friendship.
18 The White Room:-
In this room we have tried to capture John Lennon's legacy to us of� his music, lyrics, emotions and his quest for peace.
