Game # 1

The teams hit the floor at 12:35 to an unholy amount of applause. You could tell this was the game everyone had come to see. Both teams came out strong, each having their chances in the first couple of minutes. Then just over halfway through period one, a mad scramble occurred and the ball popped out to Devin MacAulay. Devin MacAulay fed the puck up to an awaiting Brent Milljour who put away his first of the season making this a 1-0 game. The score stayed like that until period's end.

The next period started much like the other one did, with action going back and forth. Once the centurions settled down they began to dominate. The chances were endless but the teams could just not capitalize on them. As the time ticked down on the clock the team went into protect mode as they tried to salvage this 1-0 win and actually allowed the other team to get chances, but much like the other period, Gordon Templeton shut the door making 15 saves for the win.

TSN's Monster Performer

Gordon Templeton

This afternoon, Gordon got to prove why he is the best goalie in the league as he put on a clinic robbing people left and right. Most memorable was an incredible save on Patty K's break away as well as a sprawling save to cover up the puck while rookie sensations big man Brendan Selch, was standing right on the door step.

Coach Chankavich's Keys for Next game

Although today's win was a big one, I feel like we have a lot to improve on if we want to become FRC floor hockey intramural champions. Firstly, we mustn't under estimate the team like we did today. We went in thinking nothing could touch us and that we couldn't be beaten but unfortunately we found that out to not be true. Instead I believe that this game humbled us. Another thing I'd like to see for next game, is more shots on net. We had a fair amount of shots on net, but after briefly reviewing the game footage, there were many instances when there should have been a shot but instead we tried to feed it to someone else. Which is kind of tied into my next point of the fact that we held on to the ball too long. We were looking for the pretty passes and plays but when we play a team we don't really have time to make things look nice. Just remember, people will remember a pretty play for a day but a W for a season. But all that  aside, it was a great game. We will be working as a team preparing for next weeks showdown vs the Dooshminators where we can expect these problems to be fixed. Until next time
